*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

Moderate success. Obviously it was just a tiny improvement and no sane person would buy one over an iPad 2.

;)

Just because 3.1 million people bought one, doesn't mean there aren't 3.1 million lunatics with too much money. :P

Before you all run for the Report Post button, I was looking in a certain red and blue supermarket last night myself. They do interest-free credit for 6 months, which beats the spicy rice shop into a cocked hat if you want to buy an app in the first year of your device's life but do not happen to have £obscene burning a hole in your pocket. They had stock, but not of a model to the size I want. I'm sane enough to wait for the product I want on the terms I want.

Well after going out all day Saturday on the drink I woke up very poorly and feeling sorry for myself on Sunday and went and bought myself the new iPad 16gb wifi only for £399. First iPad I've had and absolutely love it, most convenient thing I've ever bought.

Does anyone use Tweebot? Streaming/pin to top is being a pain for me. Keep getting an error about too many streams.

Quick question. If you buy an iPad over in America (WiFi) it should work fine over here? Google seems to think so but I have also heard there may be issues with the App store?

Ok guys, I've been tinkering all night with this and I'm pretty sure I've sorted the HD playback.

Download XenonMKV and put your MKV files through that. It took 10 minutes with my i3 530 processor to output a 3.5gb 720p MP4 file that plays absolutely flawlessly through AVPlayerHD. This file is the one that was ridiculously choppy as an MKV file, now it's smooth as could be.

I figure a 10gb 1080p MKV would take around 25-30 minutes to output a perfect MP4 file on my PC. Certainly a lot better than the 6-7 hours it seems to take currently.

Give it a try and leave your feedback, hopefully this is the solution.

Edit - Just tried it with a 10gb 1080p MKV and it still only took 10 minutes! It works too. This was one of the files stuck at 0:00 with no video earlier, so looks like this is the way to go.

Got my brother to try this at home, I've tried every which way and up to get 1080p working without having to wait over an hour for a 1080p film to convert.

He's reported back with success, you have just made my ipad experience far easier. Thanks bud! :D

Right, on the check-list of things to get my Ipad fully functioning the way I want, I'm down to one last item:

Network Sim - Which is the best network people have experiences of in terms of travelling and having a great connection for Browsing and Sky Go? Orange, T-Mobile, Three or O2 for example. I have a T-mobile Sim already which they gave me in store at the time of purchase. Preferably looking at a pay as you go type deal, where I am not fixed to a monthly billing contract.

As always, any help is much appreciated in advance :)

New advertising slogan:

"The new iPad. You'd need to have been drinking heavily to want one."

:D
