*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

Got my replacement pad today, screen colours are much better than my ipad1 and ip4. I get 5 times the upload speed on my three sim than my home broadband :D

Managed to get a screen protector on first time as well, which was a bonus :)

Stupid question probably but I've never had a 3G pad before. I take it the pad automatically prioritises to wifi when you have a data sim card in and only picks up the network when the wifi goes the same as the phone :)

Yes and no. My iPad detects my WIFI and switches soon as i walk through the door....however a lot of the time it also locks on to BTFON wifi and such which is annoyingkeep going into settings and changing back.

Anyone have a solution for this?

Try renaming your SSID to something beginning with A so that BTFON is not first in the list - this seemed to work for me.

I took my ipad to work last night to see the 3G speed at work. Over 11meg down and over 3 meg up, 70ms ping. Shame I can't tether my xbox to it :D

I don't think you can do that with a pad unless you jailbreak it, that was what I was led to believe?

You can with the iPad 3 but only if the network/sim allow it and I don't think any of them are set up for the iPad yet. I've yet to hear of anyone with tethering enabled on a uk network.

My three sim allows me to set up a personal hot spot on my iPad. Switches on no problem.

Yep same here. Using one of the 3Gb/3month PAYG Three sims for £20 less £12 cashback via Topcashback so £8 for 3 months which is pretty good value. And includes tethering:

I went with the official one, have seen people complain about some of the knock-offs just randomly keeling over (permanently) after a few minutes or a few hours of use, so you might save yourself some cash but the build quality can mean it not working precisely when you want it to.

Just picked mine up, it's a 32GB + 4G in white while I am here in the US. So it's worked out around 100 quid cheaper than the UK.

I have been using Perfect Reader for reading pdfs that i use at college but have just realised that it only lets me read a maximum of 5! unless i get the Reader Pro version.

I am happy to pay for it but just wondering if there are any alternatives that people would recommend?

Thanks
