I don't really notice the notch, I mean I know it's there but it doesn't bother me at all. I think I reached that state after about three days of ownership.

I'm not really bothered about the hardware this year, but they must make some big improvements to ios. It's been stagnant for a while now.

ios 14 looks to be quite a small update over ios 13 from what I've seen, so you're going to end up disappointed.

This I don’t get the big deal meh.

Id much prefer Face ID improvements so that it works at more angles - which is rumoured, over a smaller notch.

Actually that's a really good point. The cradle in my car holds my phone in landscape mode so I'd really like it to work that way round. Very occasionally I forget to unlock it before I put it in the cradle.

Damn, that's a shame. There are some great things in ios, but it's the little tweaks it needs to make it really shine. It's so obvious, I'm not sure why Apple aren't addressing them.
The siri stuff is getting further behind each year, as is homekit, but for example in the bitmoji app which I love, it's so much better on android than ios. In fact, it's that clunky in ios I stopped using it. It's not the app either, it's the os which makes it worse.

its been the problem with apple for a while now.. They tend to focus on the wrong aspects instead of improving or enabling stuff thats more important.

Why they care so much about memoji and animoki nonsense is beyond me, even the most hardcore apple fanboy doesnt give a **** about that, yet its all they seem to clamour on about these days.

They are slowly adding in things like dark mode which is great, but they really need to start being more open. Its no wonder so many people want to jailbreak their phones because so much more can be done instead of being stuck with the same design for over a decade now.

I think it’s rather the opposite. The core stuff is all there and working well and the only stuff they are adding now is the fluff that no one cares about. This is why you hear people saying that iOS and android are now boring because they are mature and stable operating systems with very little left to do with them. The intention these days is very much that you buy your phone and then forget about it for a few years until you need to buy a new one.

iOS has been more than capable for many years now hence the jail breaking scene pretty much disappeared.

I'm pretty sure the jailbreaking trend has gone down massively over the years? The only reason we're really hearing of jailbreaking recently is due to the recent patch.

I do agree iOS14 needs to give some TLC, but I don't think there's major problems, at least not what I or any of the people I speak to regularly have experienced. Would I rather have a boring core stability upgrade, yes but let's be honest they have to innovate to please people.

Its gone down compared to previous years, but recently there's been another rise in it. Especially in the past year

Core stuff working well? You mean like the mail app? Much more bugs than we're used to seeing?

Idk iOS getting worse in my eyes in terms of stability and what not, the new stuff being added is also pretty useless like you've mentioned.

I don't agree. Until iOS allows for setting of default apps (rumoured to be considered in iOS 14) and for true customisation of the home screen, they have a lot still to do for the core OS.

It is infuriating that they still won't allow these basic features. Their stubbornness paid off for them when Android was in its infancy, but it has now clearly caught up and is leading.

Id say that counts as the fluff around the edges.
