I always have done until wireless charging came about. Now I have a wireless pad for night-time charging and can use the dock on my desk as either a stand or charger depending. Unless you're absolutely glued to your phone, or the battery is on its way, I don't see why it needs charging more often.

Correct, but probs most do.

If the regular 12 is only going to come with a 5w charger anyway, then I don't mind it coming without a charger as everyone has a charger anyway.

However the pro models last year came with a 18w fast charger, and if this year's pro is going to have the new 20w fast charger with USB-C, then they absolutely should be included in the box.

They probably will be I suspect.

Then you could could argue that if you've got the 11 Pro and you're buying the 12 why would you need another fast charger?

I totally get both sides in this, and as a potential 12 buyer, would I like it if a charger was included? Yes. But if this is going to be a thing going forward then at some point they are just going to have to bite the bullet and do it and deal with the backlash much like they did with the headphone jack.

I think it would be more of an issue if they went total USB-C with the iPhone 12/Pro. As it is, they are still using lightning so it softens the blow slightly as everyone will have some form of charger to use with it.

In fact, the 3rd party manufacturers that you can buy from like Anker should be rubbing their hands at this because you'd imagine sales for their products will increase significantly. I've already starting eyeing up a dual USB-C charger which will probably be cheaper than buying the Apple version I'd expect.

How many people do you think have an 11 pro that are upgrading to the 12 vs people who dont have the 11 that are getting the 12? Im sure its MUCH more people that are the latter.

Also I meant USBC to lightning cable rather than USBA to lightning which is what the non-pro models have.

I’d say there is always a significant amount of people that will upgrade each year. That’s just the Apple way. Maybe less in recent years, but still a decent portion. But yes, I agree that there will also be a considerable amount of people that are on the X/XS and lower that will have been waiting on this new redesign.

If I buy a 12 Pro and it comes with a USB-C to Lightning cable, I can either buy an official adapter, use my current iPad Pro charger, buy a third party adapter or use one of my current chargers.

The fact that the iPhones are still using the lightning port is the key point. Apple are banking on most people still using their current chargers.

Those people who currently have an iPhone will have a charger that by hook or by crook, be able to charge the phone. That has to be acknowledged and accepted yes?

You can get into the details that they aren’t fast chargers but for most people, their current chargers are perfectly fine, their phones charge overnight and their phones are good to go for the day ahead.

And those jumping in now will probably have a charging brick of their own and they will then use the cable provided.

Now if Apple went full USB-C on the port of the iPhone 12 then it’s a completely different matter. I’d expect a charger to be provided at that point.

I do fear however that no amount of discussing this will change your annoyance regarding this so guess we just have to see what happens.

I think I will tolerate a type c adapter. Here I have multiple USB C chargers which are due to multiple pixel phones being RMAd due to one reason or another!

I don't like that everything about new devices is leaked ahead of release these days. I much preferred it when there weren't any leaks but I suppose that's going back to 3GS days.

Although I do remember Steve Jobs at the start of the iPhone 4 unveil saying "stop me if you've already seen this" to a laughing crowd :D

The difference is that was a test device accidentally left in a bar, that's never happened since. These days its the supply chain and their own engineers leaking like crazy.

Terrible fraud video, i bet he has no idea what the final design is gonna be like
Its only models based on what has been sent to case manufacturers.
I dont see whats "fraud" about it?...
Always happens at this time of year.

Anyhoo size comparisons.

5.4" iPhone 12 is perfect imo, had I not upgraded last year this would be the one I'd be going for.
Hope that size is available on the next cycle.

Im more of a big phone guy and the 12 pro max interests me, but why are iphones so wide and annoying to hold compared to their android counterparts?!

Now rumoured that the iPhone will now be a minimum of $50 more expensive than last year even though they’ve decided to remove the charging brick and headphones from the box.
