It certainly would make it interesting if its true. In fact it’d be amazing. I’ve got GPS for hillwalking that has sat communication but it costs far to much to use for me.

You’re currently around £15 p/m for 10 text messages - not iMessage and you’re additional for a weather update. You’ll easily be over £50 p/m for over 100 text per months for Sat txt.

Calls? My GPS doesn’t offer that function but I’d imagine the price would be ridiculously high.

Would it include galileo as well would be a complete game changer, price to include all that would surely push it over £2k and twice as thick as it currently is.

Apparently the iPhone 13 has LEO txt and calls.

that's huge news if it turns out to be true.

What this means is that if you were in a remote area where there is no cellphone network coverage or even if you're in a urban area but the network drops, then your iPhone 13 turns into a satellite phone so essentially

Cue the:

"one more thing" and "This is the best iPhone we've ever made." At the next key note :D

Yeah, bring in an AOD.

Then I can turn it off and get an extra two days use out of my battery.

It's something that's useful on the watch but I can't think of a single instance where it's of any use on a phone.
Pretend you don't have your apple watch.

And it looks like the Leo emergency coverage will only be available in a select few countries that are in the right geographical location for the satellite. some sort of global coverage system won't be available unless Apple wishes to launch a constellation of satellites or ask Space X for use of theirs. And calls are highly unlikely - the system will only be used to send messages

Other half and I will be getting the 13, a nice upgrade from our tired ol’ 8s.

We had planned on going for the 12 with the price drop, but the difference is only £50.

I'd like an excuse to upgrade but this just seems like yet another 'boring' incremental upgrade, might think about it though.

Of course it's a great device, but I think these days you've got to be upgrading every 3-4 years to really feel the benefits, for most people anyway.
