I also don't mind the notch, however it is definitely more noticeable on the 12 Mini so I guess I have limited appetite for it being bigger or turning into a forehead.

Used samsung s20, got a really good deal on trade in for s21. The phone is overall good, after using iphone a lot, I can really see huge differences in terms of screen quality and freedom over what you do/want with your phone. However, I can't help but come back to the iphone for its software and fluidity. I'm expecting good screens for the 13 with the obvious 120hz which is one major reason I tried the samsung. After using my samsung phone though, I'm a bit cautious on going back to a phone that has thicker bezels and that noticeable notch.

I moved from the S20 FE 5g to the iPhone 12 and don't regret it at all.
iOS is just much better to use (for me) and I think I'm just at the age now where I don't need a 'customisable to the nth degree' operating system and now gravitate more towards the switch on and go approach of both iOS and MacOS for my computer.

I've said before but I didn't miss the 120hz either - iOS is so smooth and fluid that while it's not on the same level as a 120hz Android it's considerably better than any 60hz Android.
That being said 120hz on iPhone will be nice to have but I'd bet anything it'll be reserved for the "Pro" models so it ain't going to be cheap.

I've never found the notch an issue either, I didn't understand what all the fuss was about when the X launched back in 2017. It would have course be nice to see it get smaller or indeed be removed all together, it's hardly ever been an issue though.

That reminds me of this :

The notch is one of things that you get used to when using it, but if you were to use a new phone with a tiny notch/holepunch and then you go back to the notch it will be painful.

Also I miss having more things at the top bar instead of just having a few things

Notch doesn't bother me one bit. I would be happy without it but I couldn't care too much less. I want my phone to do what I need it to and keep doing it for years. The iPhone does that. I am just getting the battery replaced in my X at the moment and I reckon it will give me another 2 years use at least before I bother upgrading. I don't care about icons or being able to customise my phone to within an inch of its life. It does what I want it to do and it does it really well.

I wonder if Apple will just brand it ‘The new iPhone’ or something similar, like they did with the iPads a few years ago. That was so confusing, anything is possible with Apple marketing!

I am not sure if they will just go 12S or skip 13 but I think next years iPhone the rumour mill is pointing towards massive changes like the notch going etc....

I get the impression this year will be a refresh of the 12...

So no different to the rumours for the last two years then? :D

Every year its the same ****, no point even really looking into leaks anymore until maybe about a month before its set to release

No point in looking at the leaks period. The vast majority of it is just clickbait morons who want to make a quick bit of money with 'viral' headlines and YouTube videos.

There was a point a couple years ago when it was actually fairly accurate from good sources, but the apple crackdown on leakers and youtubers getting more and more desperate for views has resulted in a load of BS

There's always flecks of truth in some of them, but the majority are guesswork, horse manure and best wishes. I'd love the iPhone 13 to have USB C, 120Hz, SUPEROLEDXPRODISPLAYXDROLED5X or whatever the new technology will be called with a flux capacitor built in, but hey ho that's what the leaks are always drumming up because clickbait.

There are some people who have been nearly right on release although after all the years I've followed Apple it always makes me giggle how much the Youtubers over estimate an update.

It'll be a bit faster, have 120Hz displays of the same resolution as the 12s, slightly better cameras (maybe a quad-bayer sensor on the main one), and a slightly smaller notch, all in the same size as the 12s.
See, I can do predictions too!

As long as it has the SUPEROLEDXPRODISPLAYXDROLED5X that's all I'm interested in.

I’m still rocking my xs max and can’t see me doing an update any time soon. USB C and better battery life might do it but that’s a big might. I’d rather buy a new laptop for 1200 than replace a perfectly working phone with another one that’s only 5% better in the real world. I used to be desperate for new phones every single year, I find it strange how the upgrades get worse as the prices keep going up.

Realistically this is me at the moment. I want a new iPhone, because I'm on an XS too, but I don't need one and frankly although I might say I will buy a 13, unless it's a real definitive upgrade for my use case then I probably won't. I said I'd buy an 11, and then the 12 and I didn't.

I think the real winners might be if they held onto an iPhone X. The question for them will be timing, 13 (12s?) or 14?.... I think as the price of these have gone up people are going to hold onto them longer and also asking themselves what they actually want from their device. If it goes what you want as fast you want is that not good enough?
