They could have done the screen in a way that gives you the option to narrow the screen to the point where you can’t see the cutout. It looks ugly sticking into the side of the video when watching Netflix or the like.

I can't decide whether to pay up front (thus get Amex points) or spread it over 24 months (better to have money in my pocket) lol This is such a 1st world problem.

I've just put something on Netflix and YouTube and I can't notice the 'notch'.

You’re clearly not happy with the phone. You should send it back and get a refund.

Where did I specifically say I’m not happy with it?

Im allowed to point out things which I think could be improved without it meaning I’m not happy with the phone. Don’t be such an Apple fanboy.

Really? Why would that be your response?

Since you got the phone, you seem to have a bit of a bee in your bonnet about the dynamic island. That gives the impression you’re not very happy with it.

I’m fine with it, I just think it’s silly that they couldn’t find a way of narrowing video playback so you can get a proper square screen without a black bulge over the edge. They did it when the notch was there, why not the cutout?
 
Just give it a week. If you don't like it then go back to the regular 14 or the. 13Pro, which doesn't have the Island and the ingress. It sounds like that ticks all your boxes.

What are you on about, there is no black bulge watching videos, there’s black bars either side to maintain the aspect ratio.
 
Yes, it does but from everything I've tried it's the only one I've seen, perhaps Netflix need to change something. Cobra Kai as an example doesn't do it.

Yeah, CK is fine on mine too. Must just be down to the aspect ration that it’s filmed in.

No way I’m returning the phone, I love it, it’s a big upgrade from my 11.
 
For 2.35:1 content which definitely will do it.

Cobra Kai is 16:9 which doesn't, but it looks like 16:10 will also ingress to the punch hole.
 
Currently on a 12 pro max. Can anyone with a 14 pro/pro max who has come from a 12 or 13 pro max comment (objectively pls lol) on how they are finding the change and whether it’s a “I love tech and this scratches my itch” or a genuine large upgrade?

Also, what tangible diff would I have by picking the 128gb model that can’t record in max 4K mode?

It can send emails a millisecond faster. Still doesn't type text any faster. What else you doing on your phone?
