Think I might cave in from my 11 Pro.

Have a newer one that I use for work/personalish, but this looks like a decent upgrade

but if you are smashing the phone with a high end video game

Interestingly Dave2D found the opposite when playing Pokémon Unite.

Is Pokémon unit a frame capped game?

Only in unlocked framerate game would be a good bench. If a game is capped to let's say 60fps, and you had more powerful hardware, the newer hardware uses fewer watts to do the same 60fps creating the illusion that the battery life is much better and the other review did find that battery life is good in low power tasks, it's only when using heavy tasks that it reverted - but I wouldn't expect Dave to know that since he's a casual influencer

To the user, surely this is still a win? Most of the games are capped frame rates meaning they get some more battery life when playing games.

Test driving my 12pro nude to see if I can make the move when my 15pro max arrives. Not sure I like it to be honest but maybe the smoother edges on the 15 changes my mind.

Sure but this game has basic graphics

Apple promised AAA games. Are users gonna be happy when their 15 Pro Max is overheating, dropping frames and running poor battery due to upcoming games? Cause that's exactly what's gonna happen unless you attach fans or a liquid block to your iPhone 15 pro

It's shows how meaningless the refresh loop test is when most weren't happy with battery life when they went form 13 pro to 14 pro. On that test it leads people to believe they were on par.

I remember playing Marvel Future Revolution on my iPhone 13 Pro Max when it was one of the first games to allow unlimited framerates and configurable graphics. If you maxed it out and let the FPS do its thing, the phone would just feel like it was about to go in to meltdown after about 5 minutes, that and the battery would just drain so quickly

I just cant imagine spending so much on a phone!! It scares me!

I mean, it depends how you use it. If you use it purely to make calls and texts, then yeah, it's stupid. But I think most people use their smart phones in a such a way that it's the piece of tech they use more than any other device, PC/Laptops included, so for me, £1200 once a year isn't worth worrying about. I easily get my monies worth and then some
