Those with the ESR screen protector, do you have a pink/green tinge around the edges of the protector. Most noticeable on a white background? I’ve tried two of them but they both have it. They’re very easy to apply though.

Yeah it’s because they are almost a perfect fit so anything slightly offset makes the screen bleed through the edge of the protector glass

I find the new taller aspect annoying. The old iphone was basically perfect, now its got that annoying Sony phone like tallness

15 Pro > 16 Pro

Took about two hours to fully transfer before the new one was completely useable. Proton Pass needed remove and reinstall, Ring app just didn’t bother transferring settings at all! Banking obviously needed new device verification.

ESR screen protector on with those fancy fluff and bubble free installer trays… bubbles present, pushed those out.

ESR hybrid case on too, but I’ll nab a couple of the Apple silicone cases at some point.

<macrumors> Safari feels snappier </macrumors>

We’ll wait and see what 18.1 brings, but until then the new camera button is a nice addition. Will give it a better try with Halide out on a walk tomorrow.

Gone from 15 Pro M to 16 Pro M

I'm quite pleased with the upgrade, the new screen is noticeably bigger and it might be my imagination but the colours and brightness seem improved. I feel its a bigger improvement than last years 14PM - 15PM

Side note- anyone else find logging back into banking apps a total ball ache. I use face ID for 12 months then a new phone comes and I've no clue what all my passwords and memorable info are! I guess first world problems :D

No because I use Bitwarden to remember all my passwords, codes and questions! Becomes invaluable in times like that.

My CSB. Took 5 hours to fully transfer over. So much for 15ish minutes.

Once it was up and running everything downloaded in the back ground. Everything worked apart from the banking apps - obv

Starling with the video and photos was the only annoying one until I got to the Barclays app. Jesus Christ Barclay. Just make it so you have a user name and password then put the PIN code of the card if need be. You have to register to use the app, put in every single detail including what you had for breakfast. Take a photo of your ID as well as a video of you looking left. Looking right. Saying a random phrase and numbers. Then they look at it and it takes 1h to verify.

Anyone else had issues getting the glass screen protectors to fit the 16 Pro Max? Always had no issues with the spigen ones so went for the same, but they just wouldn’t stick around the edges due to the very slight curve round the edge of the screen :(

If it’s an issue, maybe don’t bother.

It might not be the case but if you’re using the protector just to have a ‘hypothetical future’ in the bank where you can go without one… you might as well just go without one now - actually enjoy the thing that you’re worried you might not get the benefit of.

“I like the idea of a neat screen and hate the idea of a scratched screen, so I will choose to never actually get the benefit of a neat screen.” :p - I find it counter intuitive! but maybe screen protectors are much less ‘invasive’ these days!

Unless you’re a known clutz, you can choose to take a little risk and to ‘just deal’ with your microscratches.

My 14 pro max has a single ‘prominent’ micro scratch that I can see in certain lights but it’s totally irrelevant for actually using the phone… I can’t see it as I type this.

I just hate when the oleophobic coating wears off using the main screen so I’d rather keep switching out protectors - maybe I use mine too much!

Yeah it is ultimately a preference, just not one worth agonising over either way :)

As for ‘resale value’ I never like to think this way about things that I’m buying to enjoy… but I when I traded in my XR with Apple the screen has LOTS of micro scratches (I didn’t take care of it) and Apple didn’t give a hoot. So I suppose that informs me not minding too much.

Also, you quoted my post that erroneously said I had 14 prominent scratches (I’ve edited it to say ‘just one scratch’) - just had the number 14 on the brain :o :p

Think I have a little ocd and really worry about scratching the screen, plus I have a tendency to drop it when I’ve had a few too many.

Contemplating that AppleCare but my nearest Apple Store is over an hour away and guessing you have to take them into store to get fixed / replaced.
