Not a single app crash here on the max. It’s been great so far. Have turned off the always on display. Lots of new features that I’m playing with, liking all the new customisation and photos features on 18. Such a huge leap from the XR! Face ID seems to work quickly too. Keeping my XR as my banking phone, primarily because I can’t remember all my banking passwords to setup anything beyond my current accounts on my Max :p. I’ve also set the battery to 80% for now since I don’t seem to get through more than about 40% in the day.

Edit: I’ve gone back to always on display, but trying it without wallpaper on.
That’s what I do with the always on display.

I’m a bit miffed I’m the only one getting this instability with the OS :D

So I download 18.1 today, set my language to US for phone and Siri to access the new AI features only to find it still doesn't work because I have to join an Apple waiting list... lmao

I want to do this but I’m worried if I set to US English I will lose other things? Do all the apps and everything still work as intended if I change to US English?

I haven't noticed any issues; I did not change my region, only changed the language to US English. It's now working, after a couple hours I got the top of the waiting list I guess. Then it had to do an additional download for the AI model I guess, it would only do this download over wifi, so could be large. Once the download was complete it took about 40 mins to finish installing, the phone was still usable during this time, I guess it was training the model as the phone got warm. Then when it was finished it introduced to the new features

I did that and about 10 minutes later it was enabled...

Siri actually seems good now. Its shocking. I'm used to siri trying to give me web results for pretty much everything prior to this.

I’m yet to use more than 50% of the battery in a single day despite some pretty heavy use, happy with that.

Also, since I’m massively behind the times, having a stopwatch in the dynamic island during a gym session is golden :)

Happy with my 16 Plus so far, battery life is amazing and the screen size is a huge plus :D!

Coming from a 13 Mini, got sick of the small battery, but the one-handed use was very nice.

16 Plus is noticeably lighter than the 16 Pro Max, shame about the refresh rate, but as I came from a 60Hz phone, does not bother me that much, mainly in it for the battery life.

Have to say, the battery life on my 16 pro isn't anywhere near as good as my 13 pro max was but I wasn't expecting it to be. I'm setting it to only charge to 80% as well to prolong the battery as I very rarely leave the house long enough for that to be an issue.

Picked a 16 pro up yesterday, only went in to look at the Mini but had a 15 and regretted not getting the pro last year. So I upgraded and hopefully as normal the phone lasts me 3-4 years.

Quite possibly the worst upgrade I've ever done. Transfer my 15 to new 16. Then my wifes 14 to my old 15. Then my sons 11 to the 14. Transferred each phone using the proximity transfer and have had issues needing time troubleshooting on every one apart from my sons upgrade.

None of my find my airtag devices would work on my phone and found out what a complete pita they are to reset and start again.

Wife had pairing issue with her watch and also with apple tv which took me hours to rectify after a 3 hour transfer moving from one phone to the other. I think in future I will go back to the cable in computer back up and set up. Far faster.

Without doubt the worse faff I've had on any upgrade. The amount of times I've had to reset things to get them working is beyond a joke. Just when I got everything set up again I notice my mac won't unlock with my watch anymore. So more troubleshooting which will no doubt end with another unpairing of the watch and setting all my payment cards up again.

Been into the Apple Store a few times now and for the 1st time since IPhone 8 I can’t justify upgrading. It suddenly struck me when I am holding it that I have the exact same phone practically with my 15 Pro Max. Camera button looks crap too.

I moved to a two year upgrade cycle with iPhones. I then pass down the earlier model within the family. I also have a 15 Pro Max, thankfully the 15 Pro and Pro Max will also get the Apple Intelligence features when they officially launch in the UK in Dec.

No offence but you have got more money than sense if you have been on an annual phone upgrade cycle for the last 5 years.

I run them for 5-6 years in our family fleet, meaning we buy a new one every 3 or so years.

Even then, the iPhone 11 Pro Mrs Sk8 has is perfectly fine so it will go to another family member rather than being retired/sold.

Some of us have just as much money as sense and we like to buy ourselves new toys. I’ve had every top iPhone every year since the 3G iPhone came out. Yes it’s expensive but I work to enjoy nice things.

Used the same method to transfer two devices. The wifes phone got stuck on the software update part. Ended up starting again, doing the software update first then resetting it and the phone to phone transfer worked fine.

With mine I just did it the same way, software update first then did the transfer and that was fine.

Noticed the Airtag issue myself, however, I left it a day and after that it seemed to work completely fine with no messing around from me needed. Not sure what happened in the background but after that day all was well!
