Next thing I've noticed is what an absolute B****** it is to put screen protectors on, because you have no home button and no speaker to line up with! I ****** up the first one, will try another one later.

There are screen protectors about that come with applicator trays which line it up for you.

well coming from a 6s to the xs max the difference is what i was expecting when comparing the upgrade from last years phone releases (usually upgrade every 2 years but didn't see the point in the 8)

Setup has been relatively painless using the pairing upgrade option which was a great addition to making that initial setup nice and quick and now just restoring all my apps which just seems to be taking forever.

I was a little concerned with going to the max over the standard xs, but I am glad I did.

Now just time to wait for all these apps to finish installing and then i can have a good play with it.

Your Mobiles.co.uk order will be delivered today by Gary, your DPD driver, between 13:25 and 14:25

I'm not going to be in, and I don't think they'll be able to leave with a neighbour as I don't think mobiles.co.uk allows it.

I had Gary as well, and I'm based in Bristol. Be patient, he's putting some miles in today. :D

I'm still loading my apps. Taking forever. I don't even have that many. 1.5 pages of the stock apps and a few folders. 2 folders left before I am where I left off with my X this morning

@JunglistE I love the paradox of the latest greatest phone tech vs the worlds oldest most ancient keyboard :D I think you might wanna look at keyboards as well :p

Hahaha, this is my work keyboard! If you think it's bad you should see the plethora of PS2 keyboards we still have. I keep trying to work out if I could buy a cheap mechanical keyboard out of my budget with no one noticing :p

How does this pairing thing work?

If you have an iPhone/iPad running iOS 11 or later during set up you bring the device which has your Apple ID next to it - the new devices detects this and shows a weird static orb on the screen - which you then take a photo of on the device already set up and then some magic happens and the new device sets itself up automatically and has wifi details of known networks etc.

Very similar to the Apple Watch if you've done that before.

I guess I need to have an iCloud backup for it to work. I tend to only backup to my Mac. So I may be better off doing it the old fashioned way.

Second screen protecter applied, still not perfect. Sod it.

My wife has gone through 5 screen protectors (she's very clumsy) on her iPhone 7, and each time I've replaced it first-time without issue. The X series is so much harder!!

Embrace the scratches.

I went from an 8 Plus to an X and now for some reason I find myself tempted by an XS Max just for the screen and form factor that I was used to before (well, a bigger screen). One thing that I did notice with the 8 Plus is that it was quite weighty, 202g I think. How does the XS Max feel for those who have it?

make sure the old phone and new one are not sharing the same ip settings.
when i restored it copied exact settings so was conflicting until i changed/disable wifi on old device

The path I'm taking. I love the screen Realestate with the plus but its just too big in the hand for me.
