***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

According to 2 different CPW shops and their sales line, they don't know what price they will be tomorrow yet.

I went in both my local shops today either side of a call to their sales line. On their system (they showed me the screen in the shop) there are prices for contracts on different networks, but no price for SIM free. This could mean its contract only... But, I've reserved one (after they showed me the box to prove they have stock) just in case they will be available at a price close to Google's, so we will see what happens tomorrow, unless someone finds out more tonight....

Ha ha, I do what for a living? If only. But, yes, I guess that does back me a little, as people tend to like my reviews, so maybe I know a little of what I speak.

Well it seems these days that people are happy with any review even by that guy who compared the iphone 5 and didn't provide any useful information....

I'm sorry, this means nothing if I don't know how many text's you sent, how many minutes you were playing games, which games they were and what your top score was.

Sorry, I just can't agree that the level of detail you want is of benefit given the amount of random factor involved.

Now you're just being silly

Go and look through the S thread and you will see all the talk about battery life where people actually post relevant info. and screenshots rather than "oh battery great, downloaded tons of data, played this game for ages"

Is the following really too much to ask for? And this isn't even as accurate as what I am looking for (I don't want every single little detail, just a rough idea of usage etc.), went into more detail before in my review as to better times for browsing, how many photos were taken, how much 1080P footage was shot etc. (hence why I say the "much the same usage" as the people following the S thread will know what my usage is like so no need to go over it again). Just a general post on battery life;

Much the same usage as before, browsing, phone calls and texts and some whatsapp, youtube, installing/uninstalling apps, messing around with apps, a lot of camera usage for photos, slow motion recording and 1080P recording, weather syncing every 2 hours and sense weather every 6 hours, gmail in the background, mostly wifi the entire time and some G/H connection for about 1 hour or so, airdroid for about 15 minutes and this is what really killed the battery life near the end, transferring over 214MB of photos/videos via estrongs manager with wifi max performance enabled and earlier on I transferred about another 50-100MB of files but with max wifi performance disabled and of course manual control of brightness ranging from 0-30-50-70-100.

If I hadn't enabled wifi max performance I would have easily hit the 5 hours on screen time mark:

Also I had used ICS + browser a lot more but I uninstalled it near the end (hence why it isn't showing in the battery usage chart) and am now using quick ics browser instead

And this is coming from me who doesn't get paid to do reviews, did it in my own free time yet all these so called "expert sites" can't even properly gauge the battery life, instead they just don't post any relevant info. or screens let alone even charge the phone up properly and some don't even have sim cards in the phone....

Would have taken at most 5 minutes to do what I did, rather than like 1 minute on a utterly pointless 2-3 lines section.

So essentially you are telling me that you rather have the sort of info. by the guy comparing it to the iphone 5 rather than the info. that I provide for battery life?

Can I get some other people's opinions on this please? Especially kona, stoosh, robbo and sarge thoughts?

Everything about Google's handling of selling their own devices is amateurish, they're great but crikey they can't handle selling physical items.

It's been years since I last bought something that wasn't next day delivery, or at least have it available, let alone paying a tenner for delivery that could potentially take 5 days in total to arrive. If they ship on Thursday with 2 day delivery it'll be Monday before it arrives. I'm really quite doubtful they even have the stock to ship, and will presume this is the case if none get shipped before Thursday, otherwise why wait?

Things like that mixed in with the farce that was trying to buy a phone this morning and the complete lack of information on Google's part make buying from them extremely difficult.

Gutted I missed out on getting one, I was trying for an hour between 8-9, ah well, so no news on when they are coming back in? I'm hoping next week some time but is that a bit ambitious? Thinking of heading down the CPW to see if they are selling at Google Play prices...but I highly doubt it judging by the price o2 are selling it for.

I have to agree with this. £10 delivery for something that isn't next day and all info about is woolly is a disgrace.

So they released it in the US at about 8:30AM PST, whilst I was driving to work. I expected 9AM :( Luckily there were still some available but I had so many problems, it wouldn't add to cart, then it wouldn't checkout, then finally payment started to go through and it complained there was a problem and quit, phone removed from cart. Left me wondering when they will have more stock.

Then I check my email after a meeting and I have an order receipt \o/

Disappointed it sold out that quickly this morning. Wasted my time. Stock must have been low because I can't see many people being there at 8am ready to buy. Remember that forums like here and AVF/HUKD aren't really indicative of the general public.

Precisely, stock must have been very low. All the more reason there's no excuse for them not shipping out to the lucky few straight away, it's like ordering something a decade ago with the high delivery price for a slow service.

From XDA:
Just been in to car phone warehouse. They only got 5 handsets for the whole shop. What a joke.

I hope they will just add pre-orders now all this hype has been generated for it. Don't need another fiasco when trying to buy it :p

This has got to be one of the worst device launches of recent years, they've managed to completely miss the fact that interest in it was very high, they've seemingly learned nothing from the Nexus 7 launch shambles, and now they're not even communicating with the public properly to explain when orders might resume.

The next time it becomes available it's going to be a rinse-and-repeat of this morning and unless you're fast enough to get there and have the time/patience to keep trying, you've basically screwed.

No, but you can provide as much detail as possible to try and back up what you are saying/your findings.

I completely agree with Nexus here, the amount of reviews that are ridiculously vague on battery life is just incredible. It's not exactly hard to provide some well presented statistics of what you've been doing, and how your phone is setup - to give people a rough guide.

The battery life is one of the most important factors of a phone for many people, especially one with a fixed battery. It's the thing that gets talked about the most, by far.

This is how you express battery life opinion on your site:

I think everyone accepts these days that you need to charge your phone every night. So what this means is, if your phone can last 18 hours of normal use, you’re probably happy enough with the battery. I certainly found, without going to any lengths to tweak things or turn things off, I could easily make my way through the day. Even on some heavier use days, using the camera a lot, a bit of navigation and lengthy phone calls, it still seemed to cope through to the next charge.

That barely even says how good it is, or what you did.

Not quite sure why you would go from a S3 to any other phone at the moment. Seems like a pointless change... And I am yet to even recieve a friggin notification that the phone went on sale. Looks like my ol' buddy Nexus S and I will be spending some more time together

I know this will annoy people who are happy with an 8Gb model but im feeling absolutley stupid for ordering an 8GB .

I wanted 16GB and got caught up in the hysteria and drama and made a rash last second order for an 8GB. Now sort of regretting it

8GB (5-6GB in reality) of storage really is a joke. The last phone I had with that little was the Samsung Omnia 7 and it got eaten up like there's no tomorrow. 16GB is quite a difference (which should be obvious - it's double).

nearly did myself, well im sure you will break even, either by returning it or selling at cost or with a bit of profit

Will you need it? The only big items I store on my phone are Roms and music, so I've used up only about 3gb.
