***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Is there any idea of the ETA of stock on the play store? I have got 7th December in my head from somewhere but no idea where! My blackberry died and still got 10months on my contract, so thinking get this, live out the rest of my contract and then go SIM only.

7th December is apparently the date for the back orders to be fulfilled who knows when the regular stock will kick in my guess sometime around January.

Yeah its nice to use, I've only ever used the old non touch CWM recovery and this TWRP is more user friendly and really fast at making Nandroids. I Like it!

Is your battery life any better on the N4 now after spending more time with it?

Battery life is so so after turning off certain things. One of them being the section Nexus mentioned earlier in the thread.

I got 6 hours screen on time over the weekend but I didn't use the Data network & it wasn't very heavy usage really. It was on wifi near enough all the time. Just checking emails, some messaging & forgetting I left the screen on at times (I have 30 min time out)

It isn't bad but I think there is more to get out of it eventually. But I'm still happy with it!

I have 100% faith there will be a fairly chunky OTA quite soon to address the various bugs.

The primary selling point of this phone is the price....no way I'd drop an extra £100 for it...might as well buy a one x+ then

I don't think it's quite the primary selling point; more a bonus tbh. This is better than the One X+ (lack of storage aside) and even at £389 it's cheaper.

I'm sure they'll improve it too - brand new soc + 4.2JB, need software/driver updates.

How's the touch screen response now - a few of you we're saying it was not as responsive as other phones? have you just gotten used to it now?

Hmm, well I disagree imo.

If this were priced the same as the SIII & One X+ there would be an uproar as both those phones have arguably better screens, cameras and battery life.
What makes the phone a worthy competitor is its price and of course unlocked stock Android.

Only the cpu chip set in the nexus 4 is better, everything else on the x+ is better or comes down to personal preference. I agree that if the prices were the same or not much difference between them, I would rather get the x+ too despite having tegra 3

Battery life should be better with JB and the 2100mAh battery for the x+ in their current states, although once the drivers/software is better optimised on the nexus 4, it will be better.

After seeing the comparison between the gs 3 and n4 screens in a post here, the gs 3 screen looks awful next to the n4. The X screen is still regarded as being better than the n4 screen.

Both on 100% brightness (s3 set to natural as its over saturated on normal). Nexus 4 on top s3 bottom.

Regarding that msm_hsic_host wake lock, another few things to do

In the BBS thread I was recommended to shut off location services and maps (in auto starts) and disable the Google search bar on home screen(I did in apex launcher options) over the last 3 hours its gone WAY down(12 minutes lock compared to quadruple that earlier).

I still know that I'd take the S3 screen over the HOX's. The S3 screen is better than the one on the HOS, and when you look at the HOS Nexus, doesn't it still look great?

It's all relative, and with pros and cons.

EDIT: The greens look just wrong there because the guy has set it to natural - it looks much better in Normal! Natural makes no sense to me, completely washes out the screen and makes it look like a Desire HD :o

N4 has twice the amount of RAM as well.

I noticed the entire Nexus range is available to buy and showing as available, has anyone here bought from them before?

Gotta love the reviews:

"Needless to say I had a leg-quivering orgasm and have named my Nexus Glide Orlando (Bloom). I’m sad I didn’t find this treasure sooner, definitely a great toy for anyone interested in anal, beginner and expert alike!"

^ Same goes for the N4 ?

I thought the same but after seeing that comparison, I am not so sure now! Would need to see comparisons for games and video playback. The blacks and infinite contrast ratio are just such huge advantages on SAMOLED screens.

In terms of sharpness it is, but I find the colours/calibration to be better on the S, not to mention whites are much better :p

Hmm, I want to see some more comparisons now SS-89, with the GS 3 screen set to normal! :p

And yes I still love the screen on the S, but if the N4 really did look that much better overall (even when the GS 3 is set to normal) I still rather have it, although animated films etc. would look nowhere as good as they do on SAMOLED screens. I think ss-89 was just very lucky and got a really good unit with a great screen that isn't washed out like others are reporting.

Ah yes forgot about that!

Getting used to the sensitivity now but its still nothing compared to my S2 which could detect touch by just brushing it heh.

Yeah I can imagine things will get better. If not there is always XDA :D

Trouble is if you compare a standard gs3 to the n4 the n4 will seem washed out as samsungs are oversaturated colours. Looks to me in all the vids and pics and test models ive tried out that the colours are perfectly fine, brilliant even. Beside the samsung they look duller but they are also more accurate...maybe a tad to much blue shift if i were to be critical. Some people prefer the oversaturated thing, personally I can't stand it so maybe im biased! :P

Apart from the colours as that is the biggest difference obviously :p I think the nexus 4 screen looks a lot clearer in those shots as well, just has a cleaner look to it (although it should considering the higher res. and is LCD based instead :p)

Although when/if SS-89 posts more shots but with the normal preset for the GS 3 I will probably prefer the GS 3 for the saturated colours :p

Plus being done in complete darkness with 100% brightness like that makes the differences even more obvious, in normal everyday lighting/brightness setting, the difference wouldn't be as obvious.

It is a shame that I can't see any nexus 4 devices myself (yet...) to compare to the GS 3, S and X in "real life" to see what the difference is really like with my own eyes :(

Well it's fairly tame head on but my word the viewing angles on this phone suck. I love the phone, it's great and IMO best handset out there atm but those viewing angles... ugh. Big shame.
