***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

go to an o2 store lol?

No o2 stores close to me, only vodafone, 3 and CPW. Hopefully CPW will be getting a display model up very soon i.e. in the next few days :p

Well it's fairly tame head on but my word the viewing angles on this phone suck. I love the phone, it's great and IMO best handset out there atm but those viewing angles... ugh. Big shame.

That doesn't sound good! I thought this would have been very good for viewing angles, at least as good as the X especially as it is a top end IPS display made by LG!

Nope, it's not good at all. The display yellows when off centre, and if held diagonally on (vertically and horizontally) you also see the sorts of reflective blues you get on cheap TN panels. I'm really not a fan and it's bothering me. I don't know if others are getting the same issues.

Reminds me of my old LG Optimus 2X... had exactly the same problem.

Apart from the colours as that is the biggest difference obviously :p I think the nexus 4 screen looks a lot clearer in those shots as well, just has a cleaner look to it (although it should considering the higher res. and is LCD based instead :p)

Although when/if SS-89 posts more shots but with the normal preset for the GS 3 I will probably prefer the GS 3 for the saturated colours :p

Plus being done in complete darkness with 100% brightness like that makes the differences even more obvious, in normal everyday lighting/brightness setting, the difference wouldn't be as obvious.

It is a shame that I can't see any nexus 4 devices myself (yet...) to compare to the GS 3, S and X in "real life" to see what the difference is really like with my own eyes :(

At work atm, I'll post pictures under 'Standard' settings (though it's so over-saturated I don't understand how anyone could use it).

I can tell you now that the nexus 4 simply has the better screen. Whilst blacks are immeasurably better on the gs3, colour reproduction is worse and whites are yellow, in addition it's nigh on useless in sunlight (though less of an issue at this time of year). The gs3 still has a decent screen but the nexus 4 and HOX are much better.

Who looks at their phone anything other than dead on anyway?

It would bother me, especially when LCD's can have great viewing angles like on the iphone 4 onwards.

When it's sat on the desk to the side etc, I don't want to see TN like lcd colour/contrast shift.

Yep LG 2X was great head on, but it truly sucked off centre.

Also, IPS doesn't automatically equal great screen.

Damn :( Maybe you could have just been unlucky and got a device with a poor screen?

Should go to o2 and try to compare to another to see if it is the same.

Ok thanks :)

Plus viewing angles are important when you are showing photos/videos etc. to 1 or 2 people beside you. With the likes of the X, iphones etc. and any SAMOLED based screen you don't have to worry about tilting the phone towards them at a perfect angle in order to get the very best colours.

I noticed the entire Nexus range is available to buy and showing as available, has anyone here bought from them before?

http://www.nexusrange.com/

I understand this is a joke, however please have some consideration for people who might be unaware and at work, such as myself, who have opened the link. Could be extremely embarrassing having to explain it if anyone happens to check my browsing history.

e : Not to mention, it's lucky no one saw my screen!

So ordered a Nexus 4 from CPW first thing this morning and then get a call from my insurers to say that they will cover my HTC One X claim in the end so that's due to be sent off the HTC for repair tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be uneconomical to repair and I can just get the N4 with the insurance payout. Not sure what to do in the meantime though because I ordered the N4 in store so I'm not covered by the DSR and I need to wait until I hear HTC's diagnosis before I know wtf is going on.

wow so many posts on battery life. Does it really matter? Just charge it nightly.

Sometimes it doesnt last a day hence battery talk.

I think that this mobile broadcast helped.
After day at work, 7h40mins on battery of which 86% of time was without mobile reception....and am now on 70% which I find great. Especially as in past it was closer to 50 or less...
