***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Yay, my N4 has arrived!

Pah! Keep your N4 :p

True, but it gives you a good idea as to what to expect and if the shots are good quality then you have got a very good idea of what it will be like i.e. for the desire HD, every single photo and video that I had seen of it, I thought the screen looked awful and then when I finally seen it for myself, it didn't look any different, awful viewing angles and the screen was so washed out, same goes for other screens, as long as you have a good photo and a good monitor (IPS that is calibrated preferably :p) it won't be a huge difference in "real world".

I agree the whites on the GS 3 are awful, which is why I said the N4 is the better one for the snow shot :p But I think the nexus 4 just looks truly terrible here, it is over saturated but IMO it is far more pleasing to the eyes.

EDIT:

BTW, does no one use the camera on their phone? :p There has only been like 2 photos and no 1080P videos!!!!!! :p

I agree, so far I have been very unimpressed with the N4 screen. I think there is a bit of new tech 'bias' going on here, the S3 shot in that example completely blows away the N4, it's night and day difference.

I haven't seen either in the flesh mind, but people here are trying to state the N4 looks better in the posted photo's which is utter crap...it really is not.

The top picture looks like how I would see sand and shells if I was actually at the beach.

I think I'd prefer superb black levels and realistic photo reproduction with slightly yellowish whites, over better whites and slightly better res.

I'll reserve final judgement until I see both in the flesh now, but I was ready to order one without seeing it in the flesh until the pictures were posted...really unsure now.

Whereas in person I can tell you the nexus 4 in that picture looked far more natural and pleasing to the eye and a hell of a lot more vibrant whereas the gs3 is dull though more colourful.

I think that's exactly what you should do, I own both phones and I'm able to make an unbiased judgement on the fact that I can compare them directly. The s3 is not realistic at all, it's woefully oversaturated, suffers from black crush and is dull due to Samsung cutting the power output of the display in order to conserve the battery.

The nexus 4 screen isn't without it's flaws, viewing angles aren't as good as the s3 and neither are blacks (despite the s3 suffering from black crush). Colour reproduction is reasonably good though it could be a bit better. In addition touch sensitivity is much better on the s3.

Anyone find the screen on this very unresponsive?
Coming from an iphone 4, it is just way annoying how much pressure is required on the N4.

I wonder if this could be sorted in an update, or is it likely a hardware problem ?

I hope it can be fixed, because as nice and smooth as this phone is, the lack of sensitivity just undoes all the good stuff imo.

Yes I too find the same, I think it's a result of the in-cell tech as my friends iPhone 5 also exhibits similar issues.

Comparison between the GS 3 and N4:

http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Google-Nexus-4-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-S-III_id3196

The camera looks very good there for still shots, IMO it performs better in the majority of shots compared to the GS 3, although a few of the shots look blurry as if the phones didn't focus on the proper area or weren't held steadily when the shot was taken....

Weird as some sites show the GS 3 to be much better where as other sites show the N4 to be better

1080P video recording is much better on the GS 3 though.

The nexus 4 screen looks good in their screen comparison there, although still prefer the more "colourful" colours but I am sure that I could live with the nexus 4 screen :p

Wish gsmarena would hurry up with their review as if they praise it very highly for the camera, screen and audio then I will be back to considering one :p

It's ready now, not that it's particularly good anyway, I saw the complaint so pointed it out the window :D

Thanks, will watch it in a second :)

now we just need some full size photos :p

Yeah I guess colourful is the word I should have used :p

Guess I'll just have to wait and see the phone in person.

Why LOL? Please explain rather than just trying to mock.

Because you haven't even seen one in person yet seem to ignore the people who have actually taken the photos (myself), that's why.

Nexus this image from the phonearena perfectly illustrates why the n4 display is better than the s3's:

More natural and vibrant. Anyway I'm tired of this debate, if you think it is awful (not you nexus) without having seen one then fine.
