***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Hi everyone,

Been watching this thread with interest - thanks for all the tips.

Mine will be delivered tomorrow, regardless of screen opinions, glitches etc is this phone worth the money and worth the wait?

Ive just sold my iphone 5 in the hope that this will do just as much for a hell of a lot less...

Thanks

For how much Google are selling the phone, it is definitely worth the money but as for the wait, well that is a different story I suppose.

One the other hand, I guess it is like a mini adventure trying to get a hold of one.

I went into an O2 store today and asked them if they had any in stock and he said they had quite a few available at the store.

It's definitely worth it; it's simply the phone Android has been waiting for since Android first came to market and by that I mean, there's never been a stock Android Nexus device with hardware as good as the flagship devices from Samsung etc.

What makes me laugh about people criticising the screen is how quickly people forget the downfalls of other screen technologies, there's pretty much always give and takes when it comes to different screen technologies.

For example, several AMOLED devices I've owned have suffered from odd colour tinting and this issue was rife on the Galaxy SII with some people claiming it was fixed after a software update and others disagreeing. Remember the HTC Desire and the fact greys had a pink tinge to them?

The screen is a very important factor as it's pretty much the sole way someone interacts with the device and the screens performance is pinnacle to the enjoyment of a phone. I've certainly had zero qualms as to the quality of the screen coming from the Galaxy Nexus screen (720p SAMOLED with pentile arrangement).

You get sharper text, better whites and zero gap between the screen and the digitizer. Unfortunately the display develops a reflective whitey/blue mist when viewed at an angle and blacks are not as deep as SAMOLED, but for me, these aren't major issues as I always used my device face on.

Gotta agree with the above coming for a gn. I just updated the my gn which the Mrs has now. It felt laggy and over saturated. Never thought I would say that.

Thanks for this.

As for the screen response, if I had a penny for every time I had to double/triple tap an icon on my Iphone 5 I would be a very rich man...

Theoretically, could I RMA my N4, sell the replacement device for profit, keep the original and just let google charge me for the replacement? I've heard they send out replacements pretty quick.

I wont do this, just wondering :D

This is truly driving me insane.

I lose my uninsured One X the night of the 24th of November.
HTC finally rolls out JB on the 26th of Nov.
N4 goes out of stock on day 1 and remains out of stock.
I have no phone and am in contract till Oct 2013.

ALL OF MY PROBLEMS COULD BE RESOLVED IF GOOGLE JUST PUT THE DAM N4 IN STOCK
:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Are the N4 in cpw 8 or 16gb? I am tempted to shell out the extra as my contract is up soon, but stuck between waiting see stock turns up soon or forking out extra and a cheap contract. Other than its an S3/HOX but will be on £30+ contract, tough choice.

16GB. Only Google sells the 8GB model.

Every time I try to install the update it just says error :(

Reboots, says installing system update then gets half way through and says error.

Are you rooted or running a custom recovery?

The sensitivity isn't that bad guys honestly, I am going by the sensitivity on my SGS2 running a custom ROM, I can't remember what it was like running Samsungs software cause I hated it. I should have really mentioned that before.

I am also quickly changing my mind on SAMOLED, Don't get me wrong lovely screens & awesome for watching videos & playing games. But in the long run this isn't that far off it apart from the blacks & some of the viewing angles. But then when I prop it up on my pillow like I used to with my SGS2 it is fine.

Yay, my N4 has arrived!

Pah! Keep your N4 :p

This is not good! This man is destroying the N4 with his horrible home button & funky colours! :p You need a domination theme on that the grey clock etc is not nice! :p

Has anyone that ordered a Bumper had theirs yet? I sent an email to Google the other day, and I've still not had a reply.
