***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Yeah CPW should be giving you a replacement surely. Hope you get it sorted out, can see Google/LG having a few angry customers on their hands (besides stock issues) if the phones can smash easily.

And my order still says pending 5-6 weeks and no money has been taken out, so may turn up tomorrow lol.

Apparently there was no one else more senior on the phone. I reiterated quite clearly that I was not happy about paying £100 more for the phone to then be given minimal customer service and told to contact LG myself. Three people left the queue behind me.

I'm currently having a pint and steak to chill out then I'll prepare an email when I get home ready to be sent to CPW tomorrow.

Livid isn't the word. Google told me they'd have replaced it.

Are they basically refusing to replace it because it looks like physical damage or are they not taking responsibility of the warranty they must provide?

Two different things I think and I can see why the former might cause a problem.

They are saying it isn't listed as a common manufacturers fault.

Hopefully just a manufacturing defect on that one? I mean otherwise surely we would hear about a lot more breaking if it could be done that easy.

Google it, there's been loads. I mentioned it once or twice as a concern when I was looking at getting them. I now have one (from O2 through a contract upgrade that I haggled for til I got a good deal) and while I'm still worried, it's not quite as fragile as I'd feared. So far, at least...

Just to play Devil's advocate: Any thing you buy, if you take it back physically damaged most shops will not replace it there and then. Take something back that is smashed and it will always look like you dropped or damaged it.

By all means persevere and complain (it's your right as a consumer) and I hope they replace it. But from their point of view, lets say they have sold 10,000 and only 4-5 have come back with smashed backs within a week of purchase, they will assume you damaged it.

Problem is I'm scared of screwing up. :p

If I were to have a go, how much do I cut off from the SIM card? :o
Dunno, who you are with but I think all the 4 main networks let you walk into a shop and get a blank micro-sim (stock permitting). I knowEE/T-mob/Orange definitely do and so do O2.

If you want to go the cutting route, al those phone unlocking shops/market stalls will have a proper SIM cutter (looks like a stapler) and they will chop it for £1-£2 quid.

Vodafone.

How would a blank micro SIM work? I'd have to copy the data from my current SIM card? Is that even possible?

I've just tweeted Vodafone asking if I can get a duplicate SIM card in micro SIM format. I might order myself a cheap SIM cutter if Vodafone send me a normal sized SIM card.

That seems a poor reason to me, just becuase it isn't listed as a common fault doesn't mean it can't happen.

Ah yeah good point, I'm just thinking its still probably a very small minority of overall sales. And being that it broke so easily maybe some just have a fault rather than a total design failure.

Link to video and template, but if you're worried I'd just say grab a cutter, you can pick one up for about £2.50 on ebay.

No it is just a blank SIM, you call up Vodafone and give them the number on it and they transfer your number to it (then your old SIM will no longer function). Nowadays, I don't think there is much data stored on the SIM. If you mean contacts, just sync them to google or something and sync back on the new phone.

Well I was gutted to have missed out on the first batch on N4s as I managed to get a N10 but the 4 was out of stock by the time I came to order. Roll on to yesterday and they (8Gb) come back online saying 4-5 weeks. Ordered one and weirdly it turned up today! Anyone else experienced this? A friend also ordered a 16Gb on the same day but still no sign of his. I'm pretty impressed with it. I'm not sure but I think I prefer the screen on my One X. It seems very fast though.

Ordered at 17:06PM the other day, shipping said 3 - 5 days.

It's on my desk!

First impressions:

Text is so much clearer and easier to read than my S II.
Really nice to hold and to use
Incredibly smooth and fast throughout the menus and various apps that come preloaded.

Yay.

Just need to cut my SIM card, dunno whether to leave it until later!

Thanks. Got one on Amazon lined up, I have Prime so I could have the cutter by Saturday. :) I'll research Ebay nevertheless. :)

Ah cool. No Vodafone store where I am so I think either I ask Vodafone to send me a new SIM card or I cut my current one down to size.

Got no contacts or anything like that on my SIM. It's all on my Google account. :)

It's your call, but if you want to use your phone ASAP, just take it to any of those high street shops that unlock phones and sell crappy cases and they will do it in seconds using the same tool, for probably the same price.

Probably a completely dumbass question but if I ordered a 16gb tomorrow whats been everyones experience of deliverys?

The quote is now 6-7 weeks.

People who ordered 16GB on 4th seem to be getting their orders (albeit in a messed up order!!). I haven't heard anyone ordering yesterday say they are getting delivery yet (including me) and yesterday the estimate was 5-6 weeks. The estimate on the 4th was between 1-2 days for early orders and 1-2 weeks for later orders iirc.

Read into that what you will, but be prepared to wait the full time imo, to avoid disappointment :)
