***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

that round thing on my 1st pic top right?

That's the power sign on the factory screen protector.

Top right of the N4 screen in the second picture, you can clearly see backlight bleed.

Also, unless the other 2 phones still have the factory protector on, could that not distort the colours and viewing angles? Not saying they don't exist, just saying the picture is not a true reflection or fair comparison.

I have a dell U2311H monitor and love it to bits, however, I think when we get 24+ 1080P SAMOLED monitors (with a RGB pixel arrangement) I will be jumping over to one straight away :p Just love the saturated colours, deep blacks etc. too much, overall it just makes the display for images, videos etc. much more pleasing to the eye IMO.

Yeh I see that now - it's not soo bad compared to the other monsters out there.

edit: read that line again - IMO it wouldn't make worse than it is. My mates getting his one soon and I'll check his out w/o s.p. I only left mine on 'cos I decided to sell it.

The only truly excellent lcd phone screen I've seen is the IP5 for viewing angles. Not seen the HOX in real life (supposed to be excellent too) other than a shop so couldn't fully test.

I love a SAMOLED monitor too - but when SAMOLED's get to monitor size I'd want more accurate colours.

I don't mind over saturated colours on a phone/tablet - however for me, on a big screen it would be too much. Would love the perfect blacks/contrast/viewing angles though :D

We would have full control over it with the built in monitor and GPU settings though! :D

Dread to even think of the price tag for a 24" 1080P SAMOLED monitor :(

That is one thing I did notice when playing with a GSIII and a N4 side by side is the colours/display looked a lot more vibrant.

I deffo thought the N4 looked a bit 'washed out' as it were. Not enough to put me off buying one though!

i used to think that, but after 2 weeks of the N4 i find the S3 and GN is over saturated and that is everdent when you look at the whites.

Is there no timer mode for the Nexus 4 camera? Had it for a month now and just realised I couldn't set the camera to wait 2-10 seconds before snapping the photo....

Definitely true, though at least the S3 and GNex aren't oversaturated to the level of the GS2!

The N4's display is definitely still washed out, and to be honest the quality is pretty varied. On my fifth now and not a single one has had a perfect display. First was massively washed out, third was very blue, fourth was warm (and had insane backlight bleed) with poor colour uniformity. Number 5 has backlight bleed at the top where the status bar is, however luckily it is barely noticeable in normal use (and otherwise, it is very good).

Build isn't perfect, few small gaps and bits here and there, but nothing worth fussing about.

I set my S3 to standard screen mode for a few weeks before receiving my N4, and the transition was pretty much seamless. In fact the N4's greater resolution gave it the edge in my eyes, but then I'm not a great coveter of the blackest of blacks.
Apparently the correct word for that is; Melanophile.

Think carphonewarehouse, phones4u and normal high street shops have them in on PAYG but for £390+ ridiculous prices.

They all need to make a profit on the phone unlike Google. They have also been forced by LG to sell it at that price. Likely enough we can buy it from Google, instead of some other European countries.
