***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

I use MoFi soft pouch cases for my phones, and my girlfriend hates them. So when I gave her my Nexus S after getting the Nexus 4 I got her a case; an S Live Wave. That's now sat unused as it's hard to press the buttons and traps crud round the edges of the screen / case.

I have no issue with crud, could possibly be make-up, etc? Also have no issue with pressing the buttons it is a soft thin gel type material, easily bendable. But it is the only case i know of, which offers full protection from all sides apart from the face which it offers minimal lip protection. I have the Nilikin which does have button holes and I did not like it as it felt funny after using the S line having the buttons exposed

What are good screen protectors? Thinking of trying Liquid Armour but wondering what others are using front and back?

And with regards to heat mine does get warm when playing games etc but my S2 used to get very warm as well so doesn't really bother me.

What are the best cases for these people?

I've got the Nilkin flip, it offers all round protection and good grip n everyone who sees it likes it iirc cost a fiver on eb, as a poetic case user I was all set to get a hardback or slim book until I saw the Nilkin being reviewed on xda, I would buy a Poetic Atmosphere flip if they bring one to market like the one for the ip5 but I doubt they will. I used an S line and thought it was a pocket crud magnet and lacking in screen protection.

I think the crud is partly due to the curved screen on the Nexus S, it was never an issue with her old HD2 (that also had a gel case on it). Same regarding the buttons, the gel case on the HD2 was sightly more flexible and made pressing the buttons fine - but the S Line Wave it seems that the gel is slightly too thick and it requires too much force to press the buttons.

I'm not trying to say you are wrong here, or that x case is better than y - just offering up my experience of similar cases so people can see what they like :)

Does it have any effect on the camera on the back? Or did you avoid applying it to the camera?

Yup I avoided the camera, it wasn't hard.

Just to reiterate get the box app off play store n get 50gb free cloud storage at the pay for speed of 100mbs rather than the usual 25mbs free speed, it's an editors choice app and is free.

Only thing I've got with liquid armour is for the price, does it actually work? See there's a UK site now as well, £20 for the full set.

after seeing a few reviews from actual people about liquid armour, my perception was it's a total gimmick and you do not know where it has been applied and where it has not due to it being invisible, therefore you do not know when it has worn off, basically meaning you do not know whether it is protected or not. so i would advise you save yourself £20 and just get a screen protector and a case

You could equally say the same about a ridiculously thin plastic film that cost £2 off EB just how protective will it be, my main reason for getting this was the lack of curved screen protectors ie the spigen curved crystal for the s3, which iirc cost £15 when I bought 1 for my son's s3.

What I'm aiming to protect from is a small particle of stone lodged to my finger being dragged across the screen or a bit of crystal in my pocket getting behind my nilkin's flap, incidentally the nilkin cost a quid more than the s line I bought in town the day my phone arrived, the s line did its job for the time it had to but I wouldn't fancy its chances in my pocket for two years.

The liquid armor feels as good as naked screen, what's not to like compared to constantly rubbing the edge of a screen protector that doesn't cover the sides.

I got the Nillkin case at the weekend after coming back to the flat after Xmas with the family, and after a few days of use I'm really liking it. I'm undecided between using the Nillkin or the cheap leather slip case - the slip case feels a little classier and the phone looks and feels nicer without the plastic Nillkin case, but then again the Nillkin fits the phone perfectly and definitely makes it feel a little more robust, I'm much less wary about laying the phone down on tables etc. It's also nice to be able to see the notification light, which obviously isn't possible when it's in the slip case. :p

Not sure which I prefer in the long run. Ideally, I think a nice slip case with a cut out for the notification light (like the one posted previously in this thread) would be the best of both worlds, so something in that vein might be a future buy for me. Otherwise, I'd say it's the Nillkin hard case for anyone looking to protect their phone's vulnerable glass back, and a slip case for anyone looking for something a little more stylish.

Lol at all this liquid amour and screen protector talk. Get a grip. Get insurance if your worried but enjoy your phone. I stick mine in hard case if I'm on the pop. Just like I used a condom at certain times.

Who walks around with a Jonny on all the time huh :D

Not being clumsy.
Such a shame people wrap a £5 piece of rubber round a device LG have spent millions on designing.

Whilst I would normally agree, putting a phone down on a flat surface isn't "clumsy", and yet the stupid glass back on the Nexus is liable to get scratched by doing that eventually.

The back of my phone has scratches and it was not once dropped and almost always placed screen down. The few times I placed it screen up led to my phone now have 4 tiny scratches and 1 rather obvious ugly now, its still rather small about 1cm but its just always staring at me :(.
