***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Quick question, can you root and have a kernal on a phone/tablet at the same time?
I notice some are roms and kernals and both are flashable.. do they overwrite or coexist?

Yeah I am betting that it will be a big update too especially since they'll be jumping straight to V5 :D, although android already is pretty much perfect so I don't see how they could improve it even further :p Unless they come up with some excellent battery software optimisation or/and improve the UI even more whilst adding many features from the likes of touchwiz and sense i.e. smart tweaks, camera effects etc.

In the google conference call to it's share holders they mentioned the companies primary Android concern was battery life. Which indicates they are looking long and hard at battery optimisations, which could be pretty major.

Finally! Only took months and many threads to decide :D :p

Be sure to post what you think of it! :)

I've not had much chance to play with it yet! Went over to a friends (both delivered there) and we went on to hospital to see a friend who's there! Just trying to work out how to get my damn contacts off the iphone onto this!

Feels nice in the hand though, and certainly seems very fast! I'm also trying to search this thread as apparently there was a way to get rid of the soft buttons and get some screen real estate back!

Yes.

Custom ROMs come with a kernel included, if you wish to use a different kernel, then flash it after you flash the ROM.

Nice! If they can sort the wakelock issues out and get this done to a really good standard like project butter then battery life is going to be incredible

I think you have too root and flash a custom tweak/ROM in order to adjust the on screen buttons.

Someone had the same problem a page or so back and the solution was provided.

I ordered one for a family member who had been waiting on them, 2 orders showed in my Play store orders page however on Google Wallet only 1 order showed.

Received the item and was only charged for one so wouldn't worry too much.

paranoid android (developer beta builds only) will allow you to get rid of the soft buttons as well as the notification bar.

Thank You.
Best Music Player (Currently using Play Music) ?

I definitely prefer using Google Music and taking advantage of the syncing between your PC music folders and the cloud. It makes it easy to choose what music you want to keep on your device and makes music management in general a pleasure.

Added bonus is that your music will always be in order and available no matter what android devices you get in future.

Excellent point!

I notice something else. In Settings -> Apps -> All Apps..........I see a bunch of apps installed that i dont see in my apps draw. Apps like Sound Recorder, Default Video Player. How do i add them to the normal Apps section with the rest of the Apps (accessible through the apps draw)?

The beauty of android is that it only gets better from the first impression. The more you use it the more you realise you can put your own subtle marks on the way it works and looks that suit you.

You end up with a beautiful OS that is customised to truly suit you. :)
