***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Has anyone tried contacting google?
It appears that the only way they can be contact is by phone. After dialing the support line at 9:01 after 49 mins on hold i have just given up.

Is this the norm with them then?

Supposedly google now drains the battery big time on the N4, should disable it for your next charge to see how things go.

Also make sure you do this:

Yup, hopefully google will sort it out soon.......this is what the awake part should look like:

Install better battery stats for the time being, much more accurate and shows things which wouldn't be shown in the stock battery meter. Can get it for free at the bottom of this post:

Done, done and done. Will see how it goes thanks!

yep totally normal, they're an absolute nightmare to do anything other than buy from.

I cancelled an order for a nexus 7 and it took me around a month to get the money back.

Anyway.. any more suggestions on cross platform wifi messaging apps? Everything I've seen seems to need a phone number which is tricky considering I'm trying to message an ipod touch?

Viber/Skype/Line are any of these going to do it? Can you IM/text with Skype? I guess I need something thats not going to crucify a battery too.

Use Skype. It will drain battery though.

Not sure if this would work matt100, but couldnt you just put in a working mobile number you have access to that doesnt have whatsapp on it and then use the confirmation code on the ipod touch?

When I moved from iP4 to N4 whatsapp still worked for me and I swear I was able to swap between them even with the iP4 SIMless, its just that the confirmation text rather than automatic configuration came as a text on my N4 which I just used to confirm whatsapp on my iP4.

Worth an attempt at least perhaps? Though perhaps whatsapp checks if the device its on has the ability to accept SMS etc or is a phone. I doubt it does anything other than a check that you own the device/number its attached to as obviously all messages will be sent via data.

ps3ud0

That's because the Galaxy S3 screen is over saturated, rather than the Nexus 4 screen being washed out.

Some hate the over saturation, others like it.

But the nexus screen is washed out, and that is most likely due to Google trying to put the brightness up by lowering gamma, which results in a bright but desaturated screen. Thankfully the gamma can now be fixed with a custom kernel.

Then in that case it will look extremely washed out next to an AMOLED screen!

My N4 came today. Just unlocked and rooted it using nexus toolkit then updated all the apps. Just waiting for a sim card cutter to get here now so i can use my old sim card.

Just received my N4 today, what are people's views on whether to screen protect or not - torn on whether to do this, if to screen protect what is the best for the N4?

It just comes down to luck in the end as every display is different, more so for the nexus 4 going by the comments in here and at XDA.

The one which I had a play with the other day was really good, colours were more saturated/vibrant than the xperia Z screen, had great viewing angles.

All LCD screens will look "washed out" compared to SAMOLED though.

Same thing as per usual, didn't sleep last night, down from 100% to 77%. Suspend_backoff being the culprit. Still don't know how the Android OS can take drain it all away when I'm doing practically nothing.

I really hope 4.2.2 fixes all this crap

IIRC that is to do with wifi.

Go to settings>accounts and sync>google>tap on your email address and untick anything there that you don't need especially sync internet/browser

Sorry im sure this gets asked a lot, but i am a SGS3 refugee,

What is the most feature packed and stable rom, CM, Paranoid Android or Xylon?

No protection, your going to get scratches, mark my words.

Agreed - Gorilla glass is touch, but the wrong bit of grit in your pocket still has the potential to leave a nasty scratch.

One thing to watch out for is the proximity sensor on the top left of the N4 screen. The screen protector which I ordered did not have a cut-out for it, and when applied the N4 just blanked the screen completely during calls. I had to remove and manually cut a section out to ensure the proximity sensor wasn't covered.

The only sync I had left on was for Gmail, I've turned it off for now to see it will do anything. Maybe just a few days of draining the thing down will help after all.

I'd only use a screen protector if I treated my phone in a fairly careless fashion.

You could be unlucky and get a scratch anyway but in my experience it's very unlikely.
