***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

I'd only use a screen protector if I treated my phone in a fairly careless fashion.

You could be unlucky and get a scratch anyway but in my experience it's very unlikely.

funnily enough I'm exactly the opposite, i'll let a case go but always use a screen protector, I remember getting a tiny nick on my iPhone 4 screen even though I'm super careful and whilst I don't mind the odd bit of ageing on the handset case, on the screen is a nightmare as it's the bit you look at all the time. Its just not worth the risk IMO.

Has anyone got experience of a screen protector that is good (leaves the proximity sensor clear etc?), doesn't affect the screen display too much etc etc for the N4

No protection, your going to get scratches, mark my words.

I wouldn't call the the HTC One X screen "washed out".

No scratches on mine yet & no screen protector. Didn't have one my Galaxy S2 either & that didn't have one scratch!

I do use a neoprene pouch though if its going in the pocket!

I had my Desire HD for two years. I dropped it many times, had it in pocket with keys, coins etc. Not one scratch. It had a very very heavy drop from about 10ft a few months ago and that cracked the screen horrifically, but still there's no scratches on it :p

I think the N4 will be fine without a screen protector.

The screen isn't so bad if you can look past the sea of dust, it's the coating on the metal back that's taken the brunt of it.

Keys and coins shouldn't be scratching his glass! Unless it has a very weak glass or some weird coating above the glass. Tell him to stop going to the beach!

I think I may add some advanced Android stuff to the OP in a while, most people don't care for the specs anymore..

That is a good idea Locke.

Do some rooting guides, roms, kernels, tweaks. That should help a lot of people out :)

im exactly the same as you. nexus 4 is perfect condition, had it since launch and didnt have any marks on my s2 screen when i had that for 18months.

i always put my phone in my left pocket and nothing else gets in there. never used a case and never will. just careful and not clumsy :p

Anyone ordered a nexus 4 recently? My sisters after one and currently google say 2-3 weeks?

Why don't you give your sister yours?

Well goodbye Nexus 4. It's been fun!

When they make an android phone with reception as good as my 4s perhaps I can leave IOS!

Love the way the phone works but she's going back to where she came from ;)

:p

Why does Google Music redownload your pinned music everytime i make a change in a playlist on iTunes??
All i did was change the order of songs in a playlist in iTunes and now its redownloading the whole playlist to my phone again!!

Agreed - Gorilla glass is touch, but the wrong bit of grit in your pocket still has the potential to leave a nasty scratch.

One thing to watch out for is the proximity sensor on the top left of the N4 screen. The screen protector which I ordered did not have a cut-out for it, and when applied the N4 just blanked the screen completely during calls. I had to remove and manually cut a section out to ensure the proximity sensor wasn't covered.

Must fully agree with you I thought I had a problem with mine when trying to end a call to answer phone. Now with the screen saver cut its perfect thanks for the tip
