***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Does anyone else have a squeaky nexus 4?

When i push just to the left of where you insert the mini usb cable, there a squeak, like it hasn't been screwed in all the way.

It's nothing major, just a little annoying knowing it's there.

Yeah, mine does that.

First look at a Nexus 4 this morning, lovely phone but there was a really strong yellow tint which didn't look good at all, especially compared to my Butterfly.

The screens on the Nexus 4's often could do with colour recalibration unfortunately.

I've gotten used to mine but I'm reminded how "drab" it looks by comparison every time I use a friends phone or my old Xperia S, which had the best screen in the world :(

Anyone know an app that can manage profiles?

Ideally, i want it to do the following:

- Switch on Wifi, Turn on volume and Vibrate when i get home.
- Switch off Wifi, turn off sound and enable vibrate when im in the office?

Don't want to use a location aware app as i never turn my GPS on (only when using navigation).

Tasker can use location "contexts" without using GPS. It uses cell masts and wifi triangulation (AFAIK).

Location using cell masts to give specific lat/long requires the variables be monitored and can cause some pretty heavy battery drain.

For course location the CELLNEAR state is fine. I use it to turn on wifi when I'm "in range" of home then trigger more tasks when connected to wifi.

Every now and then my swipe down action for notifications or quick settings fails. After that I cannot get it to work unless I reboot the phone. Just me?

Buy some NFC tags.

paranoid android rom or a custom kernel will improve that for you

PA developer has made some custom kernels which is basically the stock kernel with colour tweaks.

Therefore if you flash one of his kernels it's the same as running stock but with a calibrated screen.

I have 2 nexus 4's (one stock - the wife's and one running PA - mine) and the difference in screen colour is astounding. So much so I doubt I could go back to stock colours.

nope happens for me too. it notice it looks like it's about to pull the notification down and then ****s up and then wont ever work as you say without a reboot.

You know i was thinking that. Would be great to just swipe when getting into car, getting home and when getting into the office and swiping it on the desk.

But for this id imagine you would need to have NFC enabled all the time? Isnt that a massive battery hog?

Where could one buy NFC tags from?

I usee Llama to do that.

Downloaded it and it seems to do what i want BUT i cant figure out how to enable/disable wifi when i select a particular profile.

I've created Profiles which was easy enough but they just control the Sound/Vibrate functions of the phone.
What i want to do is pair those Proflles now with Events that occur when i select those profiles. For example when i select Profile "X" wifi turns off/on.

Thats the bit i cant figure out.

question..

Since day 1, when I was plugging cable in to it, there was a 'squeaky' noise and when I was wiggling cable around...I never paid attention to it and thought it must be the cable...

just few days ago - took me a while didn't it ;) ; I have noticed that it is not cable..it is bottom part of casing...it is moving a bit...

when mobile is facing up, bottom part on right from usb port. you can push it in a bit in to the mobile. Left one is still and doesn’t move at all...
it is around where mic hole is.

can you guys check yours and see if you can press yours in as well ?

Not sure if that would be covered under warranty....

Thanks

Go to the events tab and you can do that :)

I have encountered that problem a couple of times now (completly stock 4.2.2).

Yes but i dont see any option to tie those events with manual profile changes....
I just see it being location events which trigger at a particular location. I also want wifi/gps etc to turn on/off when i manually activate a profile

Really impressed with the battery life on this, i am able to get at least 2 days use without charging where as my desire hd would need to be plugged in as soon as i got home from work every day. Im usually still left with 30 - 40% charge after 2 days use which for a smart phone i think is excellent.
