***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Just got myself a nexus 4 and I think it is absolutely brilliant. The only annoyance is that at first I was extremely glad to find it came with a back and front screen protector fitted but why oh why did they have to put the emblems for the power and volume buttons directly on the protector?! Now I'm going to have to remove the front one and fiddle around putting another one on and probably making a right mess of it.

The front plastic didn't strike me as an actual screen protector really, it's just there to protect it whilst it's in the box.

That is strange, if I toggle my wifi off it stays off...

You could go into your advanced wifi settings and turn off the option to automatically scan for new networks. Then tell it to forget your works wifi network.

But are you absolutely sure your toggling off the wifi completely? Never experienced it turning itself back on.

Wifi turned off definitely. I had 'Notify me when an open network is available' option ticked (have now removed that) and everything else in wifi advanced is off.

Will see if that is the cause.

just tried the new pa and love the colours but not sure on the rest of the rom

so i flashed francos kernecl and the latest cm10 nightly

is this is a good combo?

before i start installing everything and have to wipe it all if i want to put a new rom on , anybody got any recommendations?

what kernel and rom

Theres only one ROM i'd recommend & you removed it already :p

What made you not sure about PA?

Have you installed some kind of app which can turn it back on? There's no reason for the phone to be doing it.

hmmm looks like Battery Guru is causing it.

Settings > Manage WiFi [Allow wifi to turn on or off based on your usage]

Looks like that was the cause. I've switched it off now. Thanks

Once I hit the Wi-Fi toggle...

My Phone stays on 3G no matter what!, It won't even notify me of an open Wi-Fi hotspot unless I turn Wi-Fi back on with the toggle (or in the settings).

Do you have either the BT Wi-Fi App (or summut similar) or the My Vodafone App (again or summut similar) as both of these have been known to do weird things with the wi-fi settings!!!

-------Edit-------

I have Battery Guru on mine, and as long as I manually toggle Wi-Fi to off, it stays off!!!

Hmm totally confused now. I've turned back on the battery guru setting, changed the wifi settings to the same as yours and now it seems to be behaving.

I have FastConnect app installed but that only works when Wifi is ON

I think it's sorted itself out now.

Well I've managed to destroy mine already after having it for 6 weeks.

Had it in my jacket pocket, fell out onto a rack and bounced onto the floor of a data centre face first...screen is destroyed and touch doesn't work.

I've ordered a replacement brand new from Play Store, anyone have ideas on lead times? It says 3-5 days but hoping it's sooner

grrrrr ffs, I left the office for lunch, came back and it's doing it again. It's definitely either the guru app or something else :(

it's obviously the guru app, that is what it is designed to do, turn things off in order to save battery.

imo so long as your getting a day's use delete battery guru and just recharge your phone every night.

Agreed, I tried some eco apps but in the end decided that i just didn't like this playing around with settings to achieve what I perceived as minimal gains. However my big issue is when I am out and about lasting all day could be a struggle so I got one of these

Absolutely superb, just keep it in my jacket pocket and my battery woes are a thing of the past :)

Looks like notification toggle?

Personally prefer power toggles

Both look similar in screenshots (in terms of the notification drawer). Really, the only thing I want on my notification screen that stock does not have is 1 touch Personal hotspot. Or a single button widget that does it and doesn't take me into the settings screen etc.

I assume there is no way to add that to the quick settings in 4.2.2 without rooting?

Know anything like that Nexus?

Pretty sure he is using NT app as PT doesn't have that textured background effect.

Hmm, not sure, surprised you can't do it already.

With PT, I can add the hotspot toggle and it will turn on/of with just the 1 tap and without taking me to the settings and if I want to go to the hotspot settings, it has an option so that you can double tap on the toggle.

Yeah but is that a notification drawer button or a homescreen widget? I would prefer the latter as if it is in the notification drawer it would be seperated from all the other toggles that are on the secondary drop down screen on JB (4.2)

The only time I really use hotspot is with my iPad and even in ICS it was a bit of hassle turning it on in settings each time. I have a NFC tag programmed to do it that i'm thinking of sticking to the back of my iPad, just cos it (may) look cool!
