***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Plus unless I'm mad the N4 video in the this youtube vid looks miles better then the iphone 5's...

Really?

Apart from the lower light area and one area with the leaves [the first part] (although it looked like the iphone 5 didn't focus on the right area), I think the iphone 5 looks far better overall, especially with the water can and the detail, not to mention when zoomed in.

Quality wise in terms of colours and sharpness looks great, however, it seems to suffer the same problem as HTC mobiles (although a bit worse IMO), smoothness/jerkiness, iirc one of the sites said the FPS kept dropping to 22 or something.

Unless it is just my browser and flash player, which isn't smooth? :p :o

I thought the GS 2 was far better for smoothness?

Although again, I am putting all of this down to buggy software and expect it to be much better.

Other then the weird section where they zoom in on the grass using some editing software which for some reason messes up the N4's picture the rest of the video straight up looks like the N4 is capturing more information and is sharper.

With the images the N4 puts a very slight red tint on images whereas the iPhone5 seems to put a very slight yellow tint on images.

Yeah smoothness is terrible on YT phone video's I find - I'm downloading the video to see how it plays locally. Detail and colour look on par with the S2. I'm sure the N4 will be able to handle a solid 30fps.

I have to say my S3 smokes my old S2 for video camera performance.

EDIT - Downloaded it (30MB for 1080p) and it plays better/smoother. Moving cars is always a bit poor on phones I find. Not the best video camera but it pretty good. Will wait for final software too. No doubt it'll be improved upon throughout the first few months.

Agreed, to me the N4 looks better except when zoomed in, then for some reason it seemed the iPhone 5 had more detail

I found it to be the complete opposite for the video :p Could just make out more detail in the leaves (for the second part), the grass and the water can when not zoomed in, also preferred the colours of the iphone 5 on the whole, I would say the N4 looked more natural but IMO a bit dull compared to the warm/slightly saturated colours of the iphone 5.

will try to upload a photo later highlighting the parts, which I thought looked better on the iphone 5.

I think the zoom feature thing was quite good.

Yeah the tints are annoying, overall for the photos I thought this:

1st photo = nexus 4 by a mile
2nd photo = iphone 5 by a mile
3rd photo = iphone 5 by a good bit in terms of clarity/sharpness in the leaves

Although they weren't the exact same photos and the lighting plays a HUGE part in how good a photo can be and the angle, which is used etc.

The thing is, if that is using early software, then hopefully it will improve even more and easily surpass the iphone 5

Will also download it later and see if it is any better.

Yeah, the 1080P recording on the GS 3 is superb overall.

Personally I am not too bothered by how good 1080P recording is, as I don't use it a lot.... rather have much better photo quality and slow motion recording instead :p :D

pics look ok, but the video isn't very good! my SGS2 does better...
hope it is a early version of software

Some look good, others look poor (well compared to other phone cameras anyway)

Wish google had sent out phones with the latest software rather than some buggy version :(

its smooth but every 20-30s the fps drops and you can actually see it drop :) also focus is crazy bad - talking about s2 video :) tbh i don't care if image quality is a little better or a little worse than my s2, it will do the job just fine :)

Just was wondering the best sum only deal for unlimited texts and 2gb plus data?

If O2 are good in your area, Giffgaff at £12 a month.
Or 3 at £12.90, but that's limited to 5000 texts. If your sending 5000 a month you need a psychologist, not a phone lol.

Can someone please clarify whether or not I will be able to buy one of these direct from Google at the current price? I read about LG hiking the price up to double! Is this only for the high street stores, carphone and O2?

I've never been able to justify £500 on a smart phone, but at £279 I'll struggle to resist.

P.S. would I be able to tether it to my iPad?

Do we reckon Tesco will stock the N4, like they do the N7?

Any shop that sells it will have to be offering it on a contract also, for it not to kill their own market.

So they might sell it in their phone shop section on contracts, but I don't see them selling it SIM free.
