Why bother ? Close to stock maybe just stock. Enjoy android and timely updates as Google intended

Fair point...

But there are some things I like to mod...

For example...

Battery percentage
Button Mod so the multi tasking key can act as a menu key too
Sound mod to improve the sound quality
Plus like to get rid of some of the crap that is installed, which I will never use.

These all require to me to be rooted.

CM10.2, ParanoidAndroid, or whatever ROM with cherry-picks, along with a custom kernel. CM10.2 is probably best for you.

How long are these taking to be delivered at the moment? I ordered one today, and it states "ships by September 10th" but was wondering what peoples experiences are.

I will check them out, thanks.

From my personal experience mine said ships by September 2nd and got it that day... But I do know some people who had that getting it a little earlier.

Just bought a 16GB model from Google. £199 is a bargain really! Really wanted an 8GB version but it kept coming up with an error so I'm guessing they may be out of stock.

I was considering getting an N4 but I'm notorious for finding faults with phones so I'll have to skip. Backlight bleed/dodgy displays are my worse enemies.

Surely that means you'd never buy a phone? The majority of phones with IPS displays have them sourced from Samsung and LG anyway.

To everyone, don't update to TWRP 2.6.1.0. Problems with basebands and flashing (stopped my phone connecting to mobile networks). Stick with 2.6.0.0 and all will be fine.

I've just ordered one of these.
I think I'm gonna go with this kernel and this rom

Thanks for that...

I have seen those too. That rom is way too much for what I want. I would not touch half off those features.

Kernel, i would go Franco, not bloatware but is a mature kernel. Rom not sure what that would give me over cm which again is a more mature Rom.

Agree if I was to flash a kernel it would most likely be a Franco, used it in the past on my Galaxy Nexus and found it to be good.

The S2 was an advanced and wonderful phone but this is such a great upgrade. I got my other half one on release day and have appreciated its awesomeness from afar. Now I have one all to myself I can really enjoy it.

For me, this blows my iPhone 5 out of the water. I have one as a work phone and the camera is superb but nothing else stands out for me. It is also far too small for my uses.

Surprisingly, the nexus 4 is a much more aesthetically pleasing experience. For all of Apple's emphasis on user experience, in terms of on screen beauty, the N4 with holo is (IMHO) the winner. IOS 7 might reverse that though.

When Google announced the n4 I swore I would get one just as a show of support for what they had offered to consumers; I am glad I have finally lived up to my end of the bargain and hope they continue to offer this kind of experience for the release price.

Finally, I hope this is the year that Google finally nail the camera.

Ive messed up big style with the Mrs new phone. Basically I was trying to make my mind up if I should create her a google account or just use mine as she already has a outlook.com email account which would be her primary account, so whilst I was deciding on that, I moved all her contacts on her old 6300 to her SIM and then imported them from the SIM onto her new nexus 4. I had to do this is blocks as she had more contacts than the SIM can fit.

Yesterday, I decided to link her phone to my google account. I then realised that this was actually gonna be a pain because she wouldnt actually be able to create contacts on her outlook account via the person app and instead would end up creating them in to my account (yes, im stupid). So I removed my account from the phone and set her up a new account.

At this stage, I then noticed that all her locally stored contacts that I had imported from the SIM had then disappeared.

Hoping that they were still there I removed her new google account thinking that this would then display the "local phone" storage contacts, but alas it didn't.

Any ideas? I have tried downloading "Go Contact Ex" from the store thinking that it would allow me to browse the local contact store to access them, but it didn't work.

My HTC One S has the ability to show locally stored contacts via the person app. Any idea on how to do the same from the Nexus 4?
