***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Anyone heard of dbrand? They produce skins for the back of the nexus 4.. Carbon fiber.. Leather and titanium style.. I might order one they look fantastic.. Some videos on YouTube too..

there's an accessories thread on here, these look amazing, but as for protection they only really protect against scratches, drop the phone and it will shatter.

What sort of protection are you looking for?

I kept mine in a cheap "otterbox" type case i got from ebay for like £3 until the kickstand on it broke.

Now I use a Bugatti Leather pouch which has a little U shape in the leather for the notification LED.

If I am going to be out and about on the "sauce" i put it in one of the cheap tpu cases i got off ebay for like £2 as it provides more protection.

XDA also has a huge thread on accessories.

To me the "skins" are far too expensive for basically a glorified screen protector for the back, they look good but so does the back of the Nexus 4 imo, why would you want to cover it up unless you wanted to offer drop protection.

Yeah that's an app i pondered using, problem is it takes quite a while to copy stuff over wifi.

I will probably just revert back to the default drivers, probably easier in the long run.

I had the same issue, go in Device Manager and check it's listed there, I had to remove my Samsung Android driver before it would show my Nexus.

So I've unlocked and rooted my nexus 4 now using the nexus root toolkit, but when i plug it in I can't get it to connect as a media device so i can put some music on etc.

Do i have to uninstall the drivers and re install the defaults to get it working? or is there an easier way?

you rooted to put some music on your phone?

Is there any way to remove the navigation buttons while gaming without rooting the phone?

I am surprised Google didn't include a feature similar to windows 8 where u swipe from the right to bring up extra options. This would be a great way for the user to remove and bring back the nav buttons when ever he wants.

Yeah their skins are great and their customer service is very helpful too.

I bought the black titanium version for my N4. Came within a few days. It looked pretty good but I decided I preferred the look of the phone without the skin. But regardless would recommend because lots of other people really like 'em.

Yeah I know what you mean... I might go for the leather style one as I could do with the extra control it holds when laid down and leather feel makes it feel a bit more premium... Although I am drawn to the carbon fibre hmmm decisions decisions lol..

Poetic borderline gets my vote, I've got a few different ones, official bumper, Ringke fusion and the borderline, the official and ringke put too much bulk onto the phone in my opinion and the poetic just feels better to hold.

Agreed I have the official and the poetic bumper and the poetic is the better case imho.

Does anyone have the Poetic bumper for their Nexus 4?

Mine has started to break apart, which was a common issue. Have read that you just need to contact poetic and they will send out a revised bumper?

Now, I can't even remember where I bought it from, and Poetic are a US company. Will they still be able to send me a replacement free of charge?

I was just thinking the same thing. :p
Must be a big improvement to my S2 anyway :D

I sold my s2 for £100 a fortnight ago. The nexus 4 is on a different planet for £70 extra. I am not worried about space so much; I needed something to call, email, browse and stream. The camera is comparable so the upgrades in other areas are the key differential.

Delivery due tomorrow - have downloaded WUG to root and PA 3.99 and GAPPS - anything else I need?! :D

I always say this despite it not really being entirely necessary, but I'd recommend finding ADB and fastboot online and doing it manually. It is far easier, contrary to what the toolkits claim.

Other things I'd recommend:

franco.Kernel: Don't like the guy, however his kernels are pretty good. Battery life with the Nexus 4 isn't brilliant as standard, however the majority of the custom kernels fix this.

TWRP and TWRP Holofied theme: You'll already know about TWRP, but I find the theme just makes it a little easier to see and use.

AdAway: Pretty self explanatory.

I'd leave it stock for r now and see how you get on. This and the nexus 7 are the first android devices I've never rooted even. If anything just root it for now and change later on. My only gripe with the nexus 4 is the menu bar taking up so much screen.
