***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

I'd leave it stock for r now and see how you get on. This and the nexus 7 are the first android devices I've never rooted even. If anything just root it for now and change later on. My only gripe with the nexus 4 is the menu bar taking up so much screen.

Its getting PA on it before I even set it up :D

And then the menu bar will make way for halo and pie ;)

Does anyone have the Poetic bumper for their Nexus 4?

Mine has started to break apart, which was a common issue. Have read that you just need to contact poetic and they will send out a revised bumper?

Now, I can't even remember where I bought it from, and Poetic are a US company. Will they still be able to send me a replacement free of charge?

I got mine from poetic via the rainforest place, mine started splitting a month ago and contacted them and another free.

I went from cyanogen to PA simply because I find it better.. only for halo but for the phablet layout as well.

Interesting I went the other way, personally I found cyanogenmod better, I preferred how cm implemented pie, ie allowing status bar without having to trick it and the n4's battery preferred it as well. Couldn't get into halo at all

Definitely a personal thing

I would also go CM if it weren't for the fact that everything in stock Android is absolutely enormous! Luckily they've started to shrink things down (I don't remember exactly which Google apps) however not quite enough yet.

I generally view CM as a stock replacement, in that it is a widely supported release that feels like an enhanced stock ROM.

Been running better battery stats for a week now, the messaging app is using more power than the screen and seems to be the cause of my drain.

I've deleted all my messages but still using considerable power, and ideas guys?

Edit
I send around 5/10 texts a day.

I'd clear Messaging data and reboot the phone to see if that sorts it.

Had an S3 for a while and loved it, managed to lose it though somehow because I am a douche. I'm on no need of a phone for the next 2 months, and have been eyeing up replacements in the top end of the market but now I've seen this I'm wondering whether I should save myself some pennies. Will I be underwhelmed by the Nexus 4? I will almost certainly wait for the next 2 months to see if prices drop/new models appear, hopefully this will still be on sale then :p

I seriously doubt the price will drop more now it's a bargain as it is... It's a fantastic phone and will last a good while but a new version is on the horizon and will be the same price point knowing Google.. If you are in desperate need then buy it you will not regret it.. But if you can wait then wait for the new version :)

Doubt it, the Nexus 4 does have a worse camera and maybe even battery life, also no SD card if thats something you use. However everything else is better on the Nexus 4. Better screen, much better SoC, double the ram, much better software I would as, apart form the camera app everything else is just so much nicer/clear on stock android.

The phone also feels much better.

I sold my s2 for £100 a fortnight ago. The nexus 4 is on a different planet for £70 extra. I am not worried about space so much; I needed something to call, email, browse and stream. The camera is comparable so the upgrades in other areas are the key differential.

Hadn't thought of selling my S2 :o
When you put it like that it is a no brainer really. Thank you.

Already got a s3 but thought id try one of these, can always ebay it if i dont like it, they seem to be going for more on ebay than what google sell them for, crazy.

I got mine finally yesterday...

Seriously good value for what you get.

I am looking to root some point, but wanted to make sure there are no issues before doing so.

Anyone know a good close to stock custom rom?

Thanks

Why bother ? Close to stock maybe just stock. Enjoy android and timely updates as Google intended
