***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Anyone run into an issue on their N4 since the 4.3 update which has stopped the power button from working properly?

If i press it once it locks the device and wakes it as normal but if i do a long press it doesnt bring up the shut down menu which is proving to be a royal pain in the bum as I want to root my device!

My power button doesn't seem very responsive any more, don't know if that coincided with 4.3. Quite a pain to try and unlock/lock the phone now. Thinking I'll have to return it.

I have the same problem it's very hit and miss every time I press it. Does appear to have happened after updating to 4.3.

You can check the power button contact is properly in place. Just unscrew bottom torx screws and make sure it is place.

Mine is working perfectly, but I did replace my phone back after smashing it and hence did reset the contacts.

After 4.3 my power button didn't work a few times, but seems to be fine now. Unfortunately it's become very spongy which means sometimes I have to press it extra hard to get it to do anything. Annoying.

Also getting a weird thing whereby the 3G seems to lose connection when the phone is sleeping, and when I wake it turns grey, then blue again and only then do I get emails/whatsapp messages. Very annoying.

the wifi on my phone i think is broken, i can be sat right next to my router and it comes up with my network and says signal is good then when i connect it comes up saved then it jumps to out of range. If i forget network and start again it just does the same over and over

Both my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 are Unlocked and Rooted and I have a few Apps that require Root to run properly! (like Cerberus etc..)

When they have KitKat 4.4 pushed to them, obviously this will be stock and not Rooted! not sure how long it will take someone to figure out how to Root KitKat.

So my question is this...

What happens to the various Apps I use that require Root for their extra/advanced functions??

Cheers.
:)

If you have root apps and no longer have root, then as you would guess, they stop working.

Being a Nexus then root is trivial, you don't have to 'figure anything out', it's unlocked.

Bowing out and diving in on the nexus5 thread. Its been emotional chaps.

I couldn't see enough in the N5 over the N4 to be a day one purchase, once the reviews come in I suspect it will be very hard to resist but plan for it to be a next year purchase. Still love my N4 - particularly with Cyanogen mod and pie controls!

Tbh its still a lovely phone and will run anything thats thrown at it, its not like its an ATI 9800Pro trying to run Crysis 3 :D Plus maybe its just me but i think the 4 looks nicer than the 5, it looks too....rubbery?
