***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

just signed up to google music and google drive

any other things to do in preparation?

i am uploading my albums at the mo and all my apps to google drive

I'm also making the switch from iOS having had an iphone 3g and currently a 4. Any major pointers from those who have come from iOS to android?

Yes. Android's better :D

Seriously though, get ready to be able to configure your phone to your liking. Just about anything can be changed through apps or ROMs. You'll likely spend quite a while making sure your homescreen is "just right" - I think most of here have had that affliction! But it's great to be able to set things up how you want them to be, not how Mr. Jobs wanted them.

I'm not sure, if its not going to be available to order before the 13th what's the point in google having a register interest thing with an email telling you when its available? That makes it seem like they may take orders before the 13th.

The email signup is basically just an email that will be sent to you on the 13th to remind you of it's availability.

People in the US who've rung and asked have been told that the phone will be available to purchase at midnight from the play store (I think PST).

No word on whether they're all tied to the same release time though, so it might be 8am it goes on sale here on the 13th, or if we're treated as a separate entity it could be midnight for us too.

Those latest anandtech benchmarks make more sense as they mirror the padfone 2 results which has the same SoC.

So we should ignore benchmarks that were done and room temperature and believe the ones that are done in a freezer? The phone is broken and should be delayed.

Just like the original results, they should be taken with a pinch of salt until results from release software appear.

It's a thermal issue. Sure they could reduce the throttling but that will only make a very hot phone even hotter and will probably kill the phone fairly quickly.

Except the 2nd tweet above says the phone didn't feel that hot.

So the bad game performance is here to stay in the design then? Was hoping it was just the software that was on the phone and that it would match the optimus G with an update.

Nobody is sure as yet, throttling could be due to low thresholds or could be a design issue. You would hope that the thermal performance would have been tested...

Could be down to the glass back been a bad conductor of heat. When people start putting these into rubber cases it's not going to get any better...
TBH I am sure the phone would be fine for me as I don't really game on a phone. But if this phone has thermal issues then LG would be better off delaying the release and looking at the clocks again.

Applies to this thread mainly.

Looking at the potential issues with the Nexus 4, i'm beginning to have doubts that selling the S3 to swap to the Nexus may not have been that good of a move?

Just wait till it's out and see how it fairs the first few weeks by other users if you or anyone else are worried of this phone's performance/issues.

So many worried people lol. No one can answer any real questions on this thing until it's out and in people's hands.

I'm echoing what I posted in the S3 forum.

I'm very happy with my S3 running Wanamlite and JB Domination, I really don't feel the need to buy the Nexus 4.

I am extremely prone to my gadget lust / addiction but will try and fight it off this time around as I think S3 is more than a good enough phone for me.

I may however buy the Nexus 4 after a few months as it is extremely cheap sim free!
