***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Mine goes into death sleep occasionally , can see notification light flashing but it wont wake up, have to cycle the power. Bit of a deal breaker having a phone that randomly stops working so you miss work calls.

Think mine does the same, though I've not had the notification light at the same time. It just wont do anything, have to hold down the power button and it restarts. Odd as it can happen when I was using it just seconds before absolutely fine.

Its been doing this for some time, probably should replace it but still holding out for something I really want.

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue. It's only started since the recent update to lollipop but happens without warning. Despite this when I put it on charge it starts up stating the battery is at 70%.

I would change devices but it's one of the most supported phones for custom ROMs etc

Trying desperately not to bite on the Moto X while it's at £229 right now. If I could keep this going to January I'd be content at it giving me 3 odd years

£229 isn't bad for the Moto X. Especially with its decent battery and 4G (I think it has 4G). Just wish it had the same developer friendly side as the Nexus 4 as I'd go for it in a second. :D
Or you could wait and see what the One + 2 brings, it might even drop the price of the One + 1 :D

Mine has started doing this recently (did it a couple of hours ago in fact), really annoying as it's always been a great phone and I'm in no desperate hurry to upgrade it.

One Plus is too big for me. Moto X would be fine size wise I think...

Final step for me is to root my N4 and put a ROM on it, any suggestions? Something simple and straightforward much like stock Android would be great.

Mine seemed to get better when I moved to the Mirage kernel, so I'm guessing my black screen/hard power off issue is the battery on it's way out.

I've had a look on Google, apparently people have solved the issue by replacing the battery. It just seems a bit strange that this issue has only started since the 5.0/5.1 update. I'm currently trying the stock image reflashed to see if it helps.

I need to repalce the battery on my nexus 4.. is it possible to put in a higher capacity battery than the original one in the nexus 4?

I don't think you can. I swapped the battery in mine and it's pretty well packaged in there.

If you go stock make sure you get a genuine LG battery. I got a fake and it quickly degraded to half the capacity.

it doesn't look very hard at all.. there are lots of guides and vids online showing how to do it ;)

Anyone know of reliable sources selling genuine LG batteries for the nexus 4?

Mehh stupid TalkTalk SIM. I flashed a latest custom rom Resurrection Remix and it feels great, loads of features etc and thought I'd found a good rom but then realised that mobile data isn't working.

Tried to configure loads of times using TalkTalk settings but wasn't playing ball at all. Now have to flash stock again :( I r dissapoint

I've been holding onto my Nexus 4 eagerly awaiting for the Pixel phone, only to be massively disappointed by the pricing of it. My Nexus 4 is dying a slow death so need to make a decision on my next phone. From reading around it looks like the best options are

Nexus 5x (before stock sells out)
One Plus 3
HTC M10

Any recommendations? I'm leaning towards either the Nexus 5x or OP3, just can't choose between them.

Personally I'd get the OP3. The 5x specs aren't as good and it isn't built as well. The main benefit to the 5x is timely updates.

If you want pure stock, timely updates and a better camera (especially for low light) then 5x.

Main plus points for one plus 3 are design/build, speaker quality, battery life and if you want more customisation for the software.

Screens on both are excellent (anandtech has rated them extremely highly), one plus 3 will have the edge with it being bigger + OLED (for the infinite contrast ratio and true blacks) though.
