***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

yeah we cant say for sure, the o2 rep may have had for a week and chucked it in his ruck sack with a bunch of keys for all me know.

out of the reviews i have read no one mentioned it as an issue

If thats the case i'm fine with that, The SII bezel wasn't too bad to be honest, I dropped my SII twice & it had a small chip on one side & a little mark on the other. It wasn't really that noticeable to be fair.

I got my S2 on release and it's still virtually immaculate, including the bezel. If the Nexus 4 is at least as good, I'll be happy.

The S2 receives some unnecessary stick sometimes, it's the best phone I have ever owned and still looked brand new when I sold it despite never using a cover with it. Including the rim.

Exactly :)

Mine would have been immaculate if i didn't drop it getting out of my mates van

All I used was a Neoprene sleeve, No screen protector or anything like that. Infact I've ordered another Neoprene sleeve for this phone too :p

Didn't you read what he said?

If it's cheap and nasty then people aren't going to be impressed. Could just have been a dud/abused device though I suppose.

The reviews have been saying its a very well made device  only the chrome bezel felt a bit cheap.

I think those who stay in the thread to debate points do so because theu want to buy the phone and are looking for ways to deal with perceived issues.

With regard to reviews; they are not wholly trustworthy. No review has mentioned a scratched bezel yet they could exist (a bit like iphone5gate). Similarly the o2x got a 1000 page thread on xda of problems (core fundamental operartional problens) which were never picked up in reviews.

The sensible thing to do is discuss solutions to speculation. In this case, google play are not so good at support and neither are LG (4 week turnaroubd time). Ok so how do you deal with a phone that has demonstrably poor thermal desigb where support is poor? This is essentislly the question that is being asked.

This basically :)

I do want the phone as i fancy a change, would like stock google and actually really like the look of the phone from the photos.

But I dont want to just jump on it selling my s3 that is a brilliant device and then regret it instantly if there are major problems.

I am extremely careful with my phones though so i expect the trim will not be an issue for me assuming that its just the display units that were harshly treated but we wont know until there are some more hands on with actual users and not review sites.

When are Google sending these emails considering the bloody thing is meant to be on sale in a few days. I am sensing a supply/demand implosion.

No one knows :D

I'd guess either on the Monday or actually on the day, I wish they would tell us what time the order page is going to be up I don't want to be at work when they put it up :/

Absolutely, I lost count of the times I dropped/sat on/spilt things on my S2 and it was still in fantastic nick when I sold it, I babied my S3 and the screen cracked on it's own while charging and there are mysterious cracks in the plastic surround (no, not the 4 moulding cracks in each corner).

The last time Google asked for an email address I didn't get any available emails until about a week after you could order.

Couldn't care less if the chrome bezel chips or whatever. As long as the screen is tough and doesn't crack easily that's fine by me, it is afterall all I look at when using the phone. It confuses me how people get so uptight about wanting to keep things immaculate, it's only a stupid phone.

It is called resale value ;)

It is called resale value ;)

It's also called looking after things and having some pride in one's possessions.

Someone at work the other day thought I was crazy for not having a screen protector on my S2. I told them I have no need for one; the only thing that touches the screen is my finger. "But what about when you put it in your pocket with your keys?". :o

Accidental drops, scuffs etc of course do happen, but in my experience if your phone is getting badly damaged it's because you're clumsy or incapable of properly looking after things, not because of poor build quality or design.

for a phone that costs £240 its not gonna have a great resale value

I know that but a lot of people are like it with the higher priced gadgets.

This is true as well. I never put my S2 in the same pocket as anything else. I'll admit i am clumsy :p

Sure it is, the important thing is how much you lose between when you buy it and when you sell it. Because you're starting at a much lower price it would have to devalue massively to be as risky as a more expensive handset.
