***The Official Manly Shaving Thread***

No idea who makes the razor, the blades are bic chrome platinum and rapira platinum (Russian made apparently).

Link to where you got the kit?

I have had a few DE razors in my time but dont recognise that one. Must be the alcohol in my system! lol

I use the same shaving cream. I also use an Alum block and Bump Patrol

I shave both head and face!!

not that I've wet shaved in about a year but I used a cheap DE from Boots and a pack of their blades that i've still got, cost me about £8 for the lot with normal shaving gel. Best shave I've ever had.

Doesn't tell you what razor they include!

Looks like a Weishi. Can be had for a under a tenner. Often rebranded (Jager David or something and quite a few more).

Not a bad razor. Very mild tho. Will teach bad habits as it's so forgiving.

Got the razor, brush, towel, two packs of blades, proraso pre shaving cream and taylor of old bond street cream in my first order, will deff give it another month to see what i get.

I received mine this weekend, that Poraso smells amazing! No point me posting a picture as it would look the same as Lokai's. Ta bud! :P

Yep that poraso is really nice! Out of interest how long have you been a member ? Do you get a decent variety of stuff ?

Decided , since DE shaving is for me, to pick up a decent razor (but something still quite forgiving) -

Went for the ikon 101 -

Going to give it a whirl shortly.

I thought I'd give DE shaving a whirl and behold I cut myself to ribbons. It was a good 10 days worth of growth though!

That was my first box. But I've signed up for 6 months and I'll be buying my brother a subscription for his birthday in August. I am quiet impressed by it all - their customer service is top notch too.

Just subbed myself. My partner is a massive fan of cosmetics subscription boxes and I've always been a bit disappointed that I couldn't find anything similar for men (they have lootcrate etc which I have used but never really rated what was included). Really interested to see what this is like, just looking at the box reviews I don't know if it will stack up financially but I'll give it a couple of months. Cheers to the posters who pointed it out.

One thing i struggle with is getting the blade center in the razor. I can faff for ages and it still ends up more agressive on one side than the other.

You sure it isn't a 37C Slant Bar? In all my razors the 3 bars hold the blade perfectly. It could be a manufacturing fault maybe too?

So here you can see what happens when I just drop the blade in and tighten it up. It sits all slanted.
Now making it straight to the guard/lid isn't hard, tightening it all up so the main handle guard, blade and lid guard are all parallel is a bit more difficult.
Then doing all that and making sure the blade is centre so not to be harsher on one side of the blade than the other can often be quite fiddly.

That razor is no good bro. Its bent or from a duff batch the blade should show evenly across. I use a 37c merkur slant it's amazing I would advise anyone to try it. With green astra blades.

Yep, I've got a 34c too, and it's certainly not like that. that looks like something is twisted. Are the pins that hold the top plate uneven? Are you able to post a photo of it dis-assembled? both from the top, and from the side. Something is wonky/bent/broken by the look of it.

Can anyone recommend me a good Razor?

I already have one of those all metal old fashioned razors with Derby Extra blades but i dont like it,Even with different blades i dont like the thing its too fiddly.

i much prefer Gillette Fusion type of razors but unsure wether to just get a Gillette Fusion Proglide OR if anyone could recommend anything similar?

I think the general consensus on this thread is that the DE shaving experience is far superior to the Gillette Fusion (it is for me anyway) but I did find that the Mach 3 were the best disposables for me (anything with more than 3 blades used to irritate me too much) and also not the £8 a blade that the Fusions are heading towards.

I would say though that I do use a disposable still (infrequently but do still use one time to time) but as I have better post shave products my face seems to be less irritated than years ago, an alum block to me is an absolute must nowdays, wouldn't ever be without one.

Thanks for replying,I find with with DE shaver,It causes me more issues,I have this patch of hairs on my throat that the DE shaver just cannot get close enough cut so it leaves it half cut, sore and blotchy,And thats after trying different blades it just cannot get a close enough cut.
