*** THE OFFICIAL MAX PAYNE 3 THREAD ***

Vsync works fine here. Only reason im using it is because of so much tearing. I don't know how many fps im getting as fraps doesn't seem to show up for me while playing, don't know why.

Either way it runs perfectly fine and no crashes...touch wood.

What's best to use, fxaa or msaa ot both??

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone has said yet, but one thing i really did like about the graphics options (clearly PC focused) is the Vram usage at the bottom,

It tell's you that your current settings will need this much, so you can turn things up or down to stop running out of Vram, defo good for Eyefinty,

As soon as i went over 2gig the game had a stutter, get it under and on crossfire 6970's, running in eyefinity it runs like a boss. Only issue with this it adds crossfire mem together so just remember its half.

PS all PC games should have this, it also works on the fly so you can see what eats up the vram, go from 2x aa to 4x aa, big big hit

Yeah, you need two cards.

Getting in the region of 60fps with a single 7970 with dips into high 40s on occasions with a mild OC but its not smooth.

Great game though, very cinematic, beyond GTA IV and pretty much anything else I have seen.

The way the characters move and talk is incredible.

BTW: AMD Released drivers and CAP package for the game last night (12.6).

Check the Vram meter in the graphics options, get it under the 3gig mark and try again,

Sorry very late, edit

PS with crossfire 6970's in Eyefinity (6006x1080) i get avg 150 FPS (afterburner reading), however its smooth as hell, so even if afterburner is wrong its defo still well over 60, at work so will double check when i get home, but top of my head the only settings not maxed out are

textures (on high not very high)
AA is only 2x

This was done to keep it under 2gig using the games Vram meter

Game is fantastic but I can't get 3d vision to work at all, it gives me an error basically telling me to ut it in sterioscopic mode when it all ready is :( is my 3d hz supposed 2 b at 120hz or 119hz because there is only an option for 119hz, any advice would be great, and I downloaded the game I did not buy it, do u think it could be that ?

hmm on my laptop with a 7970m 2gb max payne 3 settings says I only have like 500mb something video memory , is that right?

Okay so your openly admitting pirating the game and your asking for help?

Well I couldn't wait until OCUK deliver the SSD upgrade (supposedly tomorrow but order status says queue processing still :/) so installed it on my documents drive tonight and been playing for about an hour.

Game runs flawlessly, by default the gfx settings were almost everything high. SSAO instead of HDAO and no FSAA so I put it on HBAO and 2xAA. I also upped the shadows from HIGH to VERY HIGH.

I'm getting 45fps in busy areas and 60+ everywhere else. I'm pleased with the performance! The dialogue and quick cuts with subs reminds me of the film Man On Fire in a lot of ways.

I looked at my 2nd screen during gameplay and it doesn't even use 50% of all cores on my 2500K (4.3GHz) and uses about 1.4GB of RAM.

Will continue tomorrow!

There are some weird graphical glitches with shadows flickering here and there and Max spazzes around when rolling/diving sometimes. Stuff common with older Max Payne so I guess in a way it's true to form :p

Fantastic game, love it.

Ive got a dual boot rig, XP and Vista 64. The game runs in XP but it doesent run right, there is an audio glitch, its very crackly and distorted. And the whole game dosent seem to run smooth, its almost like the game is out of sync, its hard to explain, in cutscenes it like lip sync, the game is running smooth, no fps lag but the audio is out of time. It feels like the the game cannot settle in speed, it seems to speed up and then slow down, like watching it in fast forward. Very strange.

Maybe they will release a patch for XP users.

In Vista 64 however, it runs 100% fine and smooth as silk.

I will be buying the game when I find out how 2 fix the 3d vision problem I'm having, hence why I download the game first instead of buying it :/ is that so bad of me 2 want 2 iron out the problems before purchase, could other guys with 3d vision please post a screenshot of your nvidia 3d settings page in nvidia control panel and a screenshot of the ingame settings as well, muchly appreciated
