installed PC retail version.

Auto patcher launches, 2 downloads......green bar flies along but nothing appears to download or install. game won't patch OR launch.

Can't find a manual/ stand alone version of the patch/ patches unless as part of an illegal download.

Makes me wonder why the bloody hell I bothered paying for the game :(

the only demanding setting in this game is msaa. which i think is a bit to demanding than it should be at the moment.

without MSAA, my gpu works at 50%. with it, at least 90%. my GPU is a 580 SOC btw.


you'll be able to run it maxed with fXAA, or you could try 2x MSAA.

dont use both FXAA and MSAA, one or the other.
 
could rockstar remake max payne 1/2 if they wanted to?


or are those still property of remedy?

would love a remake of both of those.

OK so I've been outside for an hour cutting the lawns before the rain starts, and the patcher screen had reappeared.

It appears to have fixed itself and is currently downloading a patch.

Here's hoping it will load the game once done as it seems there's been all manner of untold ball ache getting it actually into the game. :D

Quite impressive how they've managed to get such decent looking graphics to run at such a high frame rate... I just wish it wasn't darting around all over the place! Frame rate limiter seemed to improve things, but not by much :(

You should be the last person having frame rate dips with a 690!

I've been using a 690 on this since Saturday and I've found it works best if you just turn Vsync to off ingame and then turn on adaptive Vsync in the Nvidia control panel.

I was getting 60fps constant but the 690 kept on freezing the pc when just watching Youtube and stuff so that's gotta go back and I've gone back to a 670 with mild OC which still gets 60fps constant with adaptive Vsync.

Excellent game from R* especially for us MP fans.
 
Installed retail today and had a quick go. Seemed pretty good...Now when I try and run it the Auto-Updater runs then I get the "PlayMaxPayne3 has stopped working" every time I try and run it. Excellent.
 
Anyone having random PC resets and crashes when trying to run this in DX10?. If I change in the graphics settings to DX9 the game runs fine. Try changing back to DX10 and it will run through the first cut scene and at some point near the end of it, the PC will just black screen and restart.

Any ideas?.:(

I had this, just reintsall the game to the same directory. Dont uninstall/delete the game first, just install again to the exact same install directory you chose the first time.

This way, it dosent reinstall everything, it just reinstalls some things, you only have to use disc's 1 and 2 for this process. It only takes a short time compared the initial install I did.

After I did this, it worked fine.
 
Given up trying to get it to work for now. If I apply a crack it runs but I can't enter my key. No crack and the game goes **** up at the rockstar logo every bloody time.

Thanks mate. Although I fixed it by disconnecting from the internet and it launches fine! :confused:
 
I have to admit I am very very impressed.

The way Max carries guns, the way they cross-over into the scripted sequences. The utter smoothness of the animations from cover to cover or cover while performing weapon pickups.

It plays lovely for a 3rd person shooter and I have never played anything 3rd person that comes anywhere near close to the overall polish of MP3. Control scheme, weapon system, cover system - It's all sublime.
 
Finished it.. and all I can say is what a fantastic experience.. its like being immersed in a movie which draws you along every step of the way.

I did want to play this through on "hard", but ended up switching to "medium" as I just wanted to get to the next Act and see what happened.. and repeating certain sections half a dozen times due to dying was spoiling the flow. It was even then quite a challenge on Medium for me.

It ran seamlessly on my 580 as well with maxed settings..

Q: if you play through a second time do you keep your golden gun unlocks?

And I Can't even get the ******* thing to run. Just goes to the Black Rock* screen then closes to Desktop.

How can it be that after paying 29.99£ for something, it doesn't even work. I'm beyond ****** off now.

Can you get a refund from Steam?

Check the steam max payne 3 forums, there are some fixes floating around on there, maybe one will work on your rig?
