*** THE OFFICIAL MAX PAYNE 3 THREAD ***

No issues at all with crashes/bugs so far, 7 hours in.

Really loving the story, naration and gameplay. Something really fresh/fun/challenging and you sort of give a little bit of a **** about the people in it other than Max. (Okay last bit is kind of a lie.)

Playing it in bits and really enjoying it. It does get repetitive, so I don't play more than about an hour at a time...which I don't really see as a bad thing.

GTAV gonna be good!

Just started Chapter XII . The game has been almost faultless. One or two levels where the cut scene failed to start, leaving me stranded. Took about 20 minutes for me to realise and had to restart. Apart from that it's never crashed and has been a joy to play. I'm definately playing it again on a harder level, something I rarely do with games, medium was good but I need more of a challenge.

Just finished the game and it was ok. Tbh I think you only play about 2 hours and watch the other 8. The whole game is shoot for a couple of mins, watch cut scene move to next shooting range and repeat.
I found playing for anything over an hour at a time became really boring as it's the same thing over and over again. A glorified shooting range.

I didn't find that.. I was off work this week and played it intensively for 3-4 days, completing it on medium and then on hard directly after, After a few days break I will try "old skool".. :)

Ok, just fired this up for the first time...went straight online for a quick blast.

The graphics are rancid, its not my settings got everything on high. It just looks ****, I'd heard it was a good looking game.

Its not a big deal, the graphics dont make the game and I'll still play single player to completion. But damn it doesn't stack up to the 30 something gb install so far.

I DON'T CARE ABOUT GRAPHICS. Its just not what I expected.

That's very odd, it generally looks great. You must have had some seriously ridiculous expectations (or it isn't working properly)!

Well I still use a 20 inch monitor at 1680x1050...perhaps it needs a bigger screen/resolution.

All my other games look fine though...

I played multiplayer. Maybe it looks better in single player as thats probably where most of the development time was spent.

Didn't really have any expectations at all tbh, perhaps some to do with good old max payne gameplay.

My only graphics expectations were from seeing pictures in the high res screenshot thread, and I didn't think it looked great but looks better in those pictures than what I see when I play.

Hmm

I'll take some screenshots of my gameplay, if it wont clutter up the thread too much.

completed MP3 - Hard

the game really reminds me of Die Hard on PS1

Bullet time is sooooo required

good game
Smogsy 8.5/10

Marked down for:
Bugs - crash bug (DX11 only i noticed 10.1 fine)
some cut-scenes are bit too long
Bullet time required so often
he felt bit heavy than last games but hes older

DX11 works fine for me, driver issue?
Cut scenes were fine IMO
Bullet time required so often??!.... You realise this is a MAX PAYNE game right? lol...
"Felt a little heavy"... WTH has that got to do with anything? lmao!

Funniest mini review ever.

Is there a screenshot key? Most games these days do, I was pressing 'Print Screen' while playing just now, it seemed to do something, but I can't find screenshot files anywhere :(

You have to enable it in the console

Max Payne Read Me said:
-screenshot: Enables the F10 key for taking screen shots. Screen shots are saved to "screenshots" folder under your Max Payne installation folder.

DX11 works fine for me, driver issue? - everything maxed include tessellation/ambient? ( many others had similar problems with crasing in dx11 mode (tried 301.42 & 296.10)

Cut scenes were fine IMO - one or two just were a bit long (start for example)
Bullet time required so often??!.... You realise this is a MAX PAYNE game right? lol... - in MP1 MP2 it was not required. you could get around and win without it
on Hard on MP3 if you dont use it each fight you will die.

"Felt a little heavy"... WTH has that got to do with anything? lmao! - in this game the character felt more heavy bulk compared to mp3. but hes older so makes sense i guess.

its my view so does really matter does it?
Funniest mini review ever.

Err... how do I access the console? :(

You actually have to create a text file called "commandline" and type the command in that. The text file goes in the MP3 root folder. Some people on the Interweb have said it doesn't work despite being an official method. I use it for the "-nomouseaccel" command, but if I'm honest I can't tell the difference so maybe the text file really doesn't work...
