Its not just you but at least it only cost £7.50 to find out! Your not missing anything the game is rubbish does not even look all that either to me the gameplay is typical recent Rockstar garbage.

You found out exactly why its so cheap when it was only released new to PC 4 months ago :( I made the mistake of buying it cheap @ retail then after 4 hours gameplay decided it goes in the complete when you have nothing better to do pile as gameplay wise its sub standard & not even the cut scenes ruin it the content is just average all round it has nothing which makes it stand out from the crowd (apart from a truly staggering hard drive space useage - why is hard to understand when the gfx are so poor to begin with :rolleyes: ).

One of the few games I actually bothered to complete over last couple of years, storey kept me playing and the action between cut scenes tends to lengthen a fair amount further into game. Since its another console port; played through on hard and turned off the annoying default aim assist options.

I thought the subway and airport sections towards end were excellent. :cool:

100% this. Im not a single player person. Whenever I buy a game I jump straight into the multiplayer but this game had me hooked from start to finish ( I completed it in 2 days :O ).

I think its a great game but the inability to skip cutscenes ruins any replay aspect for me as your listening to the same things over and over again. But at £7.50 I don't know how people have the audacity to moan!
 
I need some help guys.

I'm at the part where I'm in the speed boat, but the boat keeps exploding.
I looked at a youtube video and it looks like I'm supposed to shoot some explosives as they're thrown into the air, but I don't see any in my game. Is this a glitch?

Also, when looking for walkthroughs, each one appears to skip this part of the story mode. Am I going crazy?
 
Erm, so how do I disable this utter 3D BS that I can't seem to switch off anywhere? There's no options in the menus that I can see and I am about 8 minutes into the game and just gave up in frustration because of the forced Stereo 3D rubbish. I just want to play normally ffs.

The command line options mentioned below don't seem to work at all for the steam version :(

Edit: This is with an ATI card btw. I get odd red/blue/yellow tinge effects on everything during the game. It just messes up my own vision right away.

Max Payne 3 worth getting??

Im also considering buying it since I haven't played the series, is the single player and multiplayer fun and any dlc that are worth getting too?
would appreciate any opinions on it.

Just to update my above rant, it seems that my observations above are actually how the game was intended to look :( What a mess.

That said the game does play amazingly on a 5ghz rig and a single 6970 GPU. Fully MAXxed out (hurr) Brazil doesn't half look incredible. The devs really did a stellar job with the environments in the game, not to mention the animation. Shame about the daft graphical touches and the HIGHLIGHTING OF POINTLESS WORDS ingame.
 
I bought it in the sale a few days ago. I haven't finished it yet, but it seems to be one of those visual benchmark games as it doesn't half look stunning maxxed out. It plays very well too bar the daft graphical 'touches' that detract from the game heavily and cutscenes literally every minute.
 
for £7 its worth it, i spent 39.99 on it new on xbox and its not worth it, its linear and too many cut scenes ( most of which arent very interesting). Some parts are also very difficult and need replaying many times over to conquer which can be very tiresome as Max is very fragile and dies to just a couple of shots.
 
It's very story based lots of cinematic cutscenes,I'm near completion can say I'm enjoying it it does look gourgeous on max settings for the money I would say its well worth it,regarding multiplayer played it a few times is very quick paced doesn't seem busy but I always get games probably not a multiplayer I will play much tbh.
