*** THE OFFICIAL MAX PAYNE 3 THREAD ***

They aren't even releasing a demo for the consoles. It's so bloody good it doesn't need no stinking demo. It'll sell like hotcakes before people have a chance to work out it's toilet... don't be square, buy it now and become part of the story(now with less layers, duality and metaphor).

I'll be waiting a bit.. you know... to see if it's any good?

About the DLC, Rock* have already went on the record saying large expensive DLC is poopy and there is more money in the dribs and drabs(that are cut from the release... whodathunkit) of smaller transactions. The GTA4 DLC was officially a misstep.

The original Max Payne was one of the most memorable games I've ever played. 2 wasn't bad either but I can't remember that much about it. :p

Can't wait for this!

In game engine cutscenes would equal a massive fail for me. Max Payne's story should be told through the comic panels.

Both 1 and 2 had in-engine cutscenes, but they were brief and to the point (for example, introducing semi-important villains such as Kaufman and Lupino).

Other than Max himself, Vladimir Lem (Russian mafia type), Vinnie Gognitti (Sicilian mafia type), Mona Sax (hired assassin), Alfred Woden (secret society member) and Deputy Chief Jim Bravura (NYPD) returned from MP1. They had their character arcs resolved, essentially, along with some more politics to go with the gangsters. Oh, and the game's a giant flashback :p

GTA4 style would be a disaster but its looking like that is where most of the 35GB is going which makes sense as no way would they deliver a modern game with that high res textures

It could be a financial disaster as MS used to charge extra royalties if a 360 game comes on more than 1 DVD this would be around 4 DVD's on 360.

My early guess is on PC:

15-20GB Video
5GB Audio
5GB main game
5GB DLC

1MB gameplay ;)

Am i the only person who thinks this looks, from the trailers on tv anyway, like it has been turned into GTA? Max Payne was Film Noir. This isnt.

GTA?

More a John Woo film.

Why GTA? It's not like it's a free roaming open city game.

Also it looks like the games starts in New York, then moves to Columbia.

I'm actually pretty pumped for this game.

Ive got MP3 on preorder, believe it or not, Ive never preordered a game in my life but when I saw the gameplay trailers for it I added to basket in a heart beat.

Theres just something about the game that really appeals to me and I have this feeling *hopes* its going to be awesome.

They can't really follow the previous direction as Remedy sold the intellectual property rights to Rockstar for a pittance after MP2 didn't meet their sales expectations, this means Sam Lake isn't involved in the story and the game has been made by a different team.
But yeah, it definitely has the R* stamp on it, which is a shame.

So what's the story for this game, is it going to be the same 3rd person dark story type with good gun action and slow motion jumping? That's really all I want. Are there any new mechanics, is the game looking good.

Also whats that thing about mutltiplayer and pre-order giving silly bonus on the line of "pay more and you will own in multiplayer"?

I fell the same way as bakes, MP should be all about the living the story.

Nerusy: unfortunately the information put out so far has been focused on the multiplayer, the seamless storyboard (that now appears to be transitioned videos in between level loading) and tweaked game mechanics, practically diddly squat has been said about one of Max Paynes main unique selling points, it's story line.

Ah darn it, was thinking of buying it but now it doesn't look like what im looking for I take it it has been CODified :(

I really loved the first two games, it was the first one that got me into PC's with my gforce 2 back in the day.

SP mode is what Max Payne is about, It's the only single player game I've ever played through on the PC.

Hopefully it will be a gem!

The story is based around 14 years after the second game. Max Payne is an alcoholic who (im trying not to give a lot away, ive completed it) is hired as private security in South America looking after a rich gangster and his family, mostly his wife.

Its very gritty and very very violent but easily the best game ive played in sometime.

Hope this helps....
