*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

If you do a search for " Battery not detected" it seems to be their most common problem.

Sorry Trig that doesnt make sense to me lol.

Im hoping what your saying is its only a few days till a replacement shows up, though it had to be sent to Germany, via UPS pick up at a local store, that does not fill me with confidence.

I had mine sent straight to me, yes UPS, then delivery and drop off..
As I said though, might not be the same service for you as I always use advanced replacement...

might sell my surface pro 2 128gb version. any clues as to what these are worth? it's barely been used and i realise now i only need a browser and data for my work, which the pro2 doesn't have

The Pro2 and Pro3 are the same OS, not sure where you are struggling with data/browser?!
If you already have a Pro 2 then you arent really gaining anything by moving to the Pro 3, the CPU's are the same, granted the Pro 3 has more options with the i3 and i7 but other than that unless you need the extra inches theres not much point..

I think he means to be able to put a data SIM card in it for mobile data access.

i do indeed. sorry i wasn't clear, i'm suggesting selling for an android tablet that has a sim card slot so i can use the browser on the go. i guess i could tether but it's a bit of a pain and would be better to have something that just works. i thought i'd use the surface for more but between my desktop and mobile i can do almost everything i need, with the exception of accessing a website on the go on a large screened device

I'm not a fan of having to pay for two SIMs personally. Where I'm working at the moment I don't have free wifi so I tether my Nexus 5. Works well, though I keep the phone plugged into the ac adaptor USB as it drains the battery.

This since I moved to three one plan and a new phone that has a large battery (Lumia 1320) just tether. Especially since wp8.1 don't even need to turn on tethering. When you try connecting to it with a device that has been previously tethered, it just switches on automatically. Brilliant feature imo. No idea if android has something similar.
All though I can certainly see why a sim version would be great and should be offered. I don't understand why they don't offer it, they finally started selling 3g surface rts

I've managed to find an Apple Super Drive rip off, made of Panasonic parts which uses a single USB 3.0 for Blu-ray play back. Cost me flipping 87 quid like.

Apparently some of these USB 3.0 drives only need 1 port.

I'll give it a bash when it comes tomorrow and report back!
