*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

I still think my money will be going on a Lenovo X240 with touch (12.5" screen) when it's released.
I honestly think for me I would use the surface more as a ultrabook and would want a solid good typing platform (a type cover on your lap still isn't the same as the solid base of an ultrabook on your lap when it comes to stability), more than I'd be wanting the extra portability.

Ideally I'd like both but, maybe I'll settle for the X240 and a second hand surface pro.

I've been wanting a Surface Pro since they were first announced, battery life was always the main thing holding me back, now they've seemingly sorted that i'm seriously tempted to get a Pro 2!

I've read somewhere it's estimated at 7-8 hours battery life now rather than the 5 hours of the original Pro, not bad at all imo.

I think i'd go for the power cover too to extend that further, but not sure if it would get a bit too bulky then... no backlight either!

Will wait till it's been released and theres some in depth reviews and user experiences to read and if all is good will probably get one of these!

Opps!

Pro 2 256GB, 8GB Ordered.

Going to order a Type Cover 2 also. Might wait for a colour though.

Very nice, I'm wiating till the 11of november (payday) see exactly what money i have. Still cant decide, was al up for getting surface 2 untill they announced that LtE is out next year. But then again its only a tempory tablet till i can afford what you've ordered. Or i could go second hand surface rt. trouble is end of this year is load of expenses and all of next year is load of expen ses, so not sure when ill get the money together for a pro.

can I just ask the owners what justifies the outrageous cost for the keyboards. and I pretty sure I saw an adapter to make the keyboards wireless for an extra £50. I must add im looking at getting a surface 2.

Well if you need one you're only going to get it from Microsoft so it doesn't matter if the price is justified?

In fairness some of the cost will be due to them not making vast numbers (presumably...) but it's not very far removed from how much extra all these companies ask for going up to the next hard drive or memory capacity.

For a keyboard that works pretty well but is also as thick as a couple of pennies, switches off when folded back, acts as a cover/barely noticeable when not using it and has a trackpad for those websites that just don't work well with touch; I'd say it is slightly expensive but it's also very well executed and is probably worth it.

I used the Touch cover as a base (folded back underneath) for the kickstand 95% of the time. Part of me wishes they sold a dumb cover for £29 or something. I'm interested in the new Type cover, however.

Hi, I think I'm keeping it.

Might get a Surface 2 to compliment it.

The price difference between the old Pro and the new one is too great. I'd have to the get the 256/8GB otherwise its not an upgrade.

Ah no worries, but if you change your mind I might be interested in it.
