*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

I wonder if they fixed 2 finger gestures with the new touch and type covers?
With my Surface Pro and my Surface RT I found there was a 1 second delay when transitioning between scrolling and moving the mouse with the touch cover, and the type cover frequently wouldn't register a two finger scroll and would instead just move the mouse.
This behaviour was exhibited on both the Pro and the RT so was obviously an issue with both of the covers. Others were reporting the same issues.

The new type cover has better gesture support, but I haven't heard anything about this in particular.

Is any one waiting to see if nokia do annoounce a tablet on the 22nd?

I'm personally waiting for a device with 3G / LTE built in as carrying around a dongle or using the phone is just a pita.

I did like the look of the Sony, but if the reports are true at 5 hours battery life that puts that device out the window.

Will be interesting to see. I think there is a space for a LTE windows tablet.

MS could also kill it.

Would be good if its much lighter then the Surface 2.

I was looking at specs and the Surface 2 is 4.5g lighter then Surface RT which seems tiny weight savings.

I cant see them killing it, lumia is a good brand name and it could sell well, which helps them, as a) they own nokia, B) they need as much marketshare and help as they can get.

It will be a hard choice between the Lumia & Surface, two awesome quality tablets to choose from. The Lumia line are great phones.

I'm getting tempted to cancel my Pro 2 order and order the Surface 2 instead and keep the old Pro. They can share accessories then.

Why would you want both, especially now the battery is a resonable length, throw in the power cover and its litterally all day.

The Surface Pro is very capable, but its heavy for an actual tablet.

I owned the RT before the Pro and found I used it more, as a grab and use device.

It was great for movies and browsing. You could hold it much easier.

Both serve different tasks for me. I need a laptop for development but not daily.

Panos says he owns and uses both every day.

The new Nokia 2520 has LTE and a 10 hour battery life, Wndows RT though.

Im not surprised, tegra 4 is looking amazing, many benchmarks is showing its this gen chip to have beating the snapdragon 800.
All though i bet new ipad will beat them both.

Just hope they can grab more of the marketshare this year. That would help the apps.

GPU is better in the S800. Tegra 4 performance is at the expense of worse battery life. S800 is the better all round SoC.

But tbh, both are good chips.

thats what the early reports said, but actually the latter reports are different.
Power seems to be about the same, tegra4 is more power hugry but 800 has faster clock speed making it reasonably even, the newer benchmark,s have the tegra4 soundly beating 800

If I was to sell my original 128gb Pro and Type cover, think I could grab around £600 for it? Said I would keep it for a couple of generations, but I can feel the upgrade itch coming on already :/

Lets wait for the Anandtech review.

This TBH, we're not going to know for sure how fast Tegra 4 is in a fanless chassis, and what kind of power optimizations Microsoft have done to the rest of the Surface 2's hardware until AnandTech post their review.

Actually does anyone know when reviews are supposed to be out? Still can't decide whether to get a Pro 1 or bite the bullet on the Pro 2 (or just be happy with my 1 month old Nexus 10 lol).
