That's funny because he has long said desktop is pointless for RT which I disagree with (I use it all the time).

He regularly calls out MSFT on any BS and praises them when they actually deserve it, he does the same with Apple and Google.

If you read some more of his articles/listened to his podcasts you would know he is faaaaaaaaaar from a Microsoft fanboy.

The only times he criticises them is when he's writing some big reminiscing piece as though he has some sort of emotional attachment to a company, it's pretty sad. One of his latest pieces was how he longed for MS to be like they were at the end of the 90s/early 2000s where they could release anything and people would buy it.

I think they will make a total of 3 attempts to deliver before returning the item to Microsoft. I thinks its one a day. That was the case when I got my Surface RT.

I have opted to get my Pro 2 delivered to my Dad's work and I will collect it from him this time as my work takes me to different locations. His place of work just happens to be Buckingham Palace, so off with their heads if they don't deliver promptly :p

My order still says its in Process but at least payment has been sorted after HSBCs fraud squad cancelling my card.
 
How does it handle youtube now? Does it still lag when it's doing animations (the play controls scrolling up/down, adverts popping up etc) and playing a video?

You can actually phone your local depot in the morning before the delivery vans go out and ask them to keep it for personal collection.

I don't know where your nearest depot is or if that is more or less convenient but in theory you could pick it up on the way to work if you do that.

Going from tiles to icons hasn't been a pleasant experience, my N7 just looks a mess and 99.9999% of the apps on the store are utter bilge. I'll probably ebay it once a 7 or 8 inch Windows RT tablet with wireless charging comes out.
 
Yay, my local store isn't due them till Thursday-Saturday.
FML.

It's killing me.
Can't order it as no one's in the house to collect, and I don't really want to get it delivered to work.

John Lewis have put these up on their website this morning, just ordered mine!

Got a sweet Pro 2 128gb and Type Cover 2 arriving tomorrow before 10.30am, so damn excited now!

Don't forget guys they offer 2 year warranty compared to 1 year from everywhere else if anyone is thinking of buying one :)

Mines just turned up! Great service from Microsoft store abd UPS!

Only just turned it on the screen is lovely!

I've got surface 32 gb.

Upgraded from a iPad 2.
 
Anyone with the original surface pro here do you think it can replace a pc as I have a I7 first gen that came out but don't use it much now, can it run any windows apps my pc can and how does the I5 in this compare to what I have now.
 
Well, like I said, rather than go back and forth people are smart enough to decide for themselves so hopefully the thread won't get cluttered. Point scoring shouldn't even come into it, people have their own opinions but I stick by Thurrott being perfectly capable of writing a frank review.

This is true for all app stores.

I wish they were way more stringent with what they allow.

Would love to be a judge for this. "Sorry, your app has not passed our testing, because it's bull turd"
