you using surface 2 (rt) or Pro 2.

I've installed XBMC on my Pro 2 and it works flawlessly with any file format.

Even have it synced up to my movies stored on my server, whilst on wifi of course!!!

Just home with my S2 to see it side by side with the RT

Straight out of the box and the USB doesn't recognise my Nokia 920...brilliant.

Mine went off and fetched the Windows Phone metro app in the background when I first plugged it in. Perhaps check to see if yours does the same? And remember, the default location is the all apps list and not the Start screen now.

Nope, plug it straight in and in desktop is says the USB device is not recognised, phone works fine and connects to my pc just fine.

Also none of Ocuk is displaying properly for me.
 
OcUK not working for you either though? Sounds dodgy. If a full reset doesn't work I'd be thinking about returning it.

In news that may or may not be relevant, I've just had a firmware update pop up for the Surface 2. It's installed ok but I've no idea what it's supposed to have fixed I can't find a change log.

I found that OcUK didn't display properly after upgrading to Windows 8.1. I switched off compatibility lists in IE11 and everything displayed fine.

Saying that my I don't think I had to do that with my Surface RT when I upgraded to 8.1, haven't tried the Pro 2 yet.
 
Picked up a purple Type Cover 2 today. Have to say it's a bit improvement over the original cover. The added colour is nice, and I'm finding the keys a bit 'softer' a quicker to type on. The backlight is something that I think looks really smart, the only annoying point is that the volume up and down buttons have been replaced with backlight up and down levels, but I suppose with the volume buttons on the side of the tablet it isn't that big a deal!

Oh and the soft felt-like material they are using on the new model feels really nice, much better than the original!
 
I'm going to have to see the type cover 2 colours in person to pick. I have a cyan touch cover but might want something darker.
 
I went with the black one. It's absolutely great to type on. I'm sort of kicking myself for suffering the Touch Cover for the last 12 months.

My Windows Phone ATIV S was working before the update firmware. Now it charges but won't connect.

EDIT its working again now after connecting it to another PC.

So been using it for about 3.5 hours tonight, and gone from 86% to 18% battery. Usage has consisted of:

3 hours screen on
2 hours downloading/installing games, and just generally messing around with apps, also had unity3d, visual studio and blender running but with blank projects
10 mins FTL
50 mins of the walking dead (1080p, low settings)

On a related note, I had completely forgotten this had fans until 10 mins into the walking dead, but even then they're not loud or obtrusive

Edit: that's on the default 'balanced' power plan
