*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

The only things I find an upgrade with the surface 2 is the performance the resolution.

Disappointed is too strong, but I somewhat expected more.

I mentioned this earlier but I think because most reviewers haven't bothered to use a Surface recently they'll be comparing the release version of the original to this new unit which would seem to give the Surface 2 a huge improvement when the Surface RT works fairly well now.

It's part of the reason I haven't upgraded yet, besides the resolution boost I'm not certain it's a meaningful upgrade.

Am thinking of buying one from the states and shipping it
over to try and save a few quid. Does anyone know of any
US stores that would do that? don't think the rainforest is selling
them.

Well, my Surface Pro 2 is defective and has to go back :(

It's only a minor defect, the front facing camera only shows the colour red, everything is just varying shades of red. Tried with various different programs that use the camera, and all images it captures are the same, only red no other colour in the image.

Not a huge deal for me at the moment, but definitely not something I'm going to ignore with a device this expensive, and I will be using it for Skype video calls in the future so would be annoying then.

John Lewis are going to collect my Pro 2 and bring me a new one on Monday. At least in the meantime it's not a problem that stops me using the Surface!

I'm not sure it'd be worthwhile, the US price is about £550, VAT will increase that to £650 so that's only £70 cheaper and we haven't even added in shipping...

I have been seriously considering one of these but the price puts me off somewhat. TBH if the Surface RT came with a stylus I would go for that. As it is the Surface Pro 2 with stylus and in particular, Word, Power Point, Outlook and One Note is just what I need. I wonder if there is anyone out there who has tried the original Surface Pro and would be able to comment on the difference between it and the new Surface Pro 2.
I would also be interested to hear if anyone has tried the base model 64 GB with 4 Ram and would be able to compare it with the 256GB version with 8GB Ram. The latter is my preferred choice but with cover and accessories I'd be looking at around £1300-£1400!

PC world still have mistakenly filled the Surface under the Android tablets section.

So the android code ATAB10 takes 10% discount.

Works on the Pro 2 or Surface 2

You have to have it delivered won't work for collection.

The biggest problem with the Surface Pro 2, however, is the lack of a suitable high-quality scaling system within Windows 8.1 on the traditional desktop. You are stuck with either tiny text and dialogue boxes, or big text with a blurry, blown-up user interface.
Can anyone who has bought the Surface Pro 2 comment on the above quote from today's Guardian newspaper. If the above is correct, this would really put me off buying one.

I bit the bullet couldn't afford a pro 2 but managed to pick up a surface pro 128 GB brand new and sealed for £500, well cuffed with it I do miss the kick stand on the surface 2 but playing pc games on it is great and running my desktop apps I use a lot is a bonus.
