*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

I have one buy Snugg. Its a leather case so was a bit pricey but it is really high quality and has protected my Surface really well! Got it from the rainforest.

The £25 one? That's the only one I could find when searching earlier. Seems to be a very limited choice of sleeves for the Surface. I'm going to order the Snugg one. Thanks.

Well after yesterdays debacle with delivery (only Type Cover 2 delivered, no Surface Pro 2) I finally have my Surface!

Damn this is a premium feeling device, feels well built and expensive. Not had a chance to use it yet, had it delivered to work so its just sat on my desk charging at the moment.

Can't wait till lunch to fire it up!

I can believe how much the second angle of the stand makes a difference, its almost embarrassing being so dependant on it now!

I would almost want the same design in a phone.

Is it me though or does the new backed material make it seem or feel cheaper?..its a lovely thing to hold, its feels nice in the hand, almost feels like a paper texture.

I think it feels great, not cheap at all, very premium feel. But I've never held the originals, only my Surface Pro 2.

Had a good go on it over lunch (over ran my lunch cause didn't want to put it down! oops lol), really gonna enjoy using this device!

Playing Hearthstone on it is amazing! I know what i'm gonna be doing on my lunches for the forseeable future :D

Yeah, you won't regret it, it's such a nice case. With a Pro and Type Cover 2 it's a very snug fit, pardon the pun. I don't know if the case would be able to take the thickness of the Pro plus a power cover, but that's only going to affect a small number of people!

Michael, do you find any issue with overheating using that case?

It looks nice but my concern was that with the Pro 2 covered up in there on standby it wouldn't be able to get any cool air and could overheat. Especially if I put it in there with some programs running that use a bit of CPU power.

Maybe I'm looking at it wrong or something but I don't see how it couldn't overheat really!

The texture is slightly less smooth than the original. Whether it feels better or cheaper is really a subjective thing. I think on balance I prefer the RT finish, but it's marginal.

I hating change lol, but its the most nit-picky of things, it does feel nicer in the hand than the cold metal feel.

Speakers seem a vast improvement at least in volume.

Screen, yes, its obviously sharper, but not in the most amazing step reviewers like to make you think, its more a testament at how good the RT one was even for its res with colours and contrast..

8.1 is the making for it though, even on the RT.

The screen is very nice and definitely a big improvement for text. Video on the other hand I can hardly tell the difference. I said on day one the screen on the RT was very good. Massive PPI numbers are overrated.

I've never had a problem with overheating, but when I put the Surface away I do tend to hibernate the device instead of putting it on standby. I did have another case before this one and that did happen, the tablet came out of standby, and when I went to take it out it was very hot and the fans were the loudest I've heard them. Ever since then I've decided to use the hibernate option instead as there is no chance that a press of the keys or screen will switch on the device!

Does anyone know if it's possible to have SP2 wake up just from opening the cover?

To the Surface Pro 2 owners, do you find the tablet make use of Haswells 'Connected Standby' mode? and does it wake from sleep a lot faster like intel said Haswell would do?

From what I've read don't think it supports connected standby, but this is a software limitation rather than a hardware one, so could be added in the future.

It wakes up in 2 seconds.
