*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

Im seriously considering the Nokia 2520 as I love their HERE maps, just weighing up whether to go RT or not, going to wait a little while to see if any bay-trail tablets appear as that would be ideal from me, but otherwise the Nokia might a viable alternative

I've been thinking the same thing, its the in-built LTE that swings it for me.

What's the average batter life on the Surface 2 now? still 10 hours plus?

Went to Argos to replace my Surface 2 for the speakers.
The lass had never even heard of the tablet before :p

Again, straight off, the top left where the two materials meet, not flush.

Are people just missing these small things or are they forgetting how good the original RT was?

EDIT : Jesus christ at my posts last night. It's the Android keypad on my phone, it's frustrating, so it'll put full stops which completely wrecks the flow, and obviously, I was kinda intoxicated.

Those posts, put mine to shame. And thats saying something.
Still no release date for 2520 or price, or for surface 2 lte for that matter.
Surface rt also seems to be holding its price to well on the second hand market.
I also wonder what lenovo is upto.

That's one way to use a plunger. A #betterway to prop up your tablet is coming 30 Oct 2013.

Just a case?

Yeah, I have just got Sky Go working on my Pro 2. Had to install Silverlight first. Then when tried to watch a channel in IE11, a pop up at the bottom of the screen said that running Silverlight app could be a security risk and I clicked "Run Control."

Also remember you are only allowed 2 registered devices so check the managed devices section of Sky Go.

This is one major feature to have over my old Surface RT. Wish Sky would make an app though.

Removing Silverlight and reinstalling it sorted it out.

Thanks

Al

Im barly seeing a difference between 8.1 on my RT and this to be honest.

Looks like I have made up my mind as I have just set it to wipe itself.

I'm a bit disappointed with the build and the speakers.
I'm not sure why they're touted as better.

I was looking at returning it for a refund my self to be honest, I preferred the original.
I can tell some difference with the performance and I can see a difference with the screen.

Screen is sharper, but only from RT and MS clear type tech it isn't THAT obvious, to me anyways, and yes my eyes have perfect vision.

Performance is not enough of a difference for day in day out stuff.

Aren't Lenovo due to release something by end of month?
I did look at HP as well, they have a bay-trail with 1920x1200 screen, but to be honest, it is a bit meh..
Hoping to see some more bay-trail tablets announced, but the only RT tab so far that has me interested is the 2520, purely because I have been so impressed with the 920 and 1020 and their nearly continuous updates...
Still on the fence for RT, I might go for it, the bit that worries me is that it is a 2yr investment really, and Id prefer full windows as a safeguard, but Im also thinking for what I plan to use it for, RT would be fine, just don't like limiting my options

Well that was some fun at PC World, walking in for a full refund.

They straight up said they wouldn't give one unless their was a fault.

By the grace of god, I had kept all my text messages to get my secure codes to access my Bitlocker code via Skydiver, not only that, but unusually for me I kept the tab with all of that info on it open on my phone!, and was able to prove that I had suffered crashes and a hard crash that needed the system to fully reinstall itself.

Back on my RT, and I actually feel better about it, it feels just as quick and the whole 1080p thing feels exaggerated to me now, esp for video playback.
to add, I think 8.1 has given the RT a new lease of life, kinda what Win8 did for a lot of older pcs by just running better.
However, I will absolutely miss that second lower step in the kick stand, but its just not worth the 380 asking price for it.
