*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

I'm still confused how reviews and some people are saying they're an improvement for the speakers.

Like I was using my Surface 2 again last night on Netflix.

CRACKLING AT 68 VOLUME!!

Flipping annoying!

So tinny to, it's literally making me want to go back to an original RT.

Really enjoying my Surface 2 I just had to get it over the Nokia Lumina 2520 due to the kickstand and full USB. Anyone know how I can check battery% easily without having to go to desktop? I know I can swipe from the right to see a quick icon with the time but i'd like to be able to see the exact percentage. Xbox video seems to play most videos and mobile.hd seems to play all MKV'S so far. I like how you can trial apps for a week before buying.

Go to desktop, long press/ right click on the battery icon, you should see an option for Windows Mobility, brings up a load of options but it has a battery monitor in it, I just leave it on the desk top all the time, makes it pretty easy, shame theirs no live tile, not even in the store, theirs an app opportunity there!

Went to my local John Lewis and they did not have anything from the 2 range. Wanted to see the Type Cover 2, they only had the Surface RT and old keyboards.

Pretty lame considering they had the latest iPad.

Is the type cover 2 a lot thicker than the touch cover 2?

The difference is 2.7mm but that doesn't matter, I think you'll find the important thing is how it feels to you which you'll only figure out by holding them.

If you intend to do a lot of typing get the type cover but otherwise the touch cover seems the better solution.

Would you guys recommend the Surface 1 RT with touch cover for £249 over the new Surface 2 at £329 without touch cover?

What would I be missing out on other then the two position kick stand?

Faster (>2X cpu/gpu + double the RAM). Screen with double the pixels and wider colour Gamut.

I prefer the Silver - less of a finger print magnet and looks sleeker.

Has anyone had the chance to try the 128GB/4GB RAM model against the 256GB/8GB RAM model?
Now debating between these two and would be interested if people think there will be much need for the higher sepc machine for general Office usage but also Dragon Naturally Speaking voice recognition software and Camtasia Studion presentation software.
Think I'm ordering today or on Monday, so would be great to get some advice on this.
Also,I'm loathe to pay £35 for the official Microsoft VGA adaptor cable for the Surface Pro in the UK Can anyone recommend a mini hdmi to vga port cable that they know will definitely work with the surface pro? If I have to pay £35 for the cable then I will, but it seems very expensive to me.
Many Thanks

I thought battery life seemed subjectively better than in benchmarks, turns out it's quite a lot better.

How have they only got 8 hours out of the surface 2!? The Engadget battery test got 14 hours out of it, two hours more than even the iPad Air which in itself is an hour or two better than the other tablets. I understand there can be differences depending on tests but that's extreme, especially if the Pro get a better battery life than the ARM based tablet...

Anand test at 200 nit while Engadget test at 50% brightness so Engadget's results can be pretty meaningless as 50% may be completely different between different devices.

Although it does seem to defy logic that the Pro 2 has longer battery life than the Surface 2...

In my local Tesco it's still £319 and online I can only see it for £269.
Was this a one day deal only?

No there is a code to use to get £20 off mate. You will see it on the page to the right under special offers.

Use eCoupon code TDX-CP4D to save £20 when you spend over £200 on any iPad or tablet (excludes Sellers at Tesco) – Exp 27/11/13

Yeah but what I meant was is it worth the extra money as it will cost what? £329 at the current offer plus £109 for the cover 2, so £438. Is it worth it for almost £200 more?
