Yeah but what I meant was is it worth the extra money as it will cost what? £329 at the current offer plus £109 for the cover 2, so £438. Is it worth it for almost £200 more?

You're not going to like the answer but the only person who can tell for sure is you, I'd recommend you get the 2 but you may find the first is good enough for you.

You could save a few quid by getting a second hand keyboard though.

Fair enough mate, I wish I could have a proper play on it before purchase.

I agree only you can decide but personally I wouldn't want a screen below 1080P I'm not too fussed about the camera upgrades although the CPU upgrade is a boost but I could have lived without it.

This is a pretty impressive firmware update.

Anandtech today reported that an upcoming firmware update for Surface Pro 2 will update battery life significantly. AnandTech re-ran its battery benchmarking tests to measure the difference in battery life of Surface Pro 2 before and after the firmware update. Here are the results,

Web Browsing Battery Life - 8.3 hours (6.6 hours before update)
Video Playback Battery Life – 7.73 (6.65 hours before update)
Microsoft also confirmed that the litany of sensors included in Surface Pro 2, as well as the higher resolution display, active digitizer and capacitive touch all of which increase power draw over other similar sized Windows Ultrabooks and MacBook Air. Anyhow, 8.3 hours of web browsing battery life on a Core i5, full HD touch display machine is impressive. What do you think?

Does anyone know how to enable double-tap-to-drag on the type cover? Having to hold the left button with one finger and drag with another is surprisingly difficult with no physical buttons.

Has anyone else had issues with backlight bleed on their Surface Pro 2?

I've had a bit of an issue with build quality with SP2's to be honest, quite disappointing.

The first one I had the front facing camera was faulty, I sent this back for a replacement. Then the second one they gave me has fairly bad backlight bleed around the top edge, mostly on the left.

I think there is a problem with the screen alignment or some other build quality issue as when cleaning the screen with a lint cloth, when I rub over that top left corner there is a slight "clicking" sound from where the screen is moving under the pressure. Something isn't lined up right which is causing the bleed and this movement when pressed I believe.

With all the fiasco of having my first one replaced I was out of the 7 day DSR period by the time I turned on my second one (noticed the backlight bleed immediately :( ).

Is this something I get could replaced under warranty does anyone know?

Oh more that likely, get onto support and they'll sort you out, to be fair I've sent more than my fair share of stuff back, think I'm on my 3rd RT, second touch keyboard, thats before I even got my first Pro..
They have always been pretty much spot on as far as support and getting replacements out.

I've bought this from John Lewis, not direct from Microsoft.

To be fair JL were great with replacing my first SP2, no fuss. Just felt a bit I dunno, cheeky?, asking for another replacement lol. I mean, in normal use the bleed isn't usually noticeable but when turning on the device on the Surface loading screen its glaringly obvious and also on dark scenes in films etc it's definitely there.

If this wasn't such an expensive device I wouldn't be too bothered, but it's really niggling at me that I know it's not right.

Not sure what to do tbh.

I'd take it back as many times as you ahve to for you to be happy with the device, are you really being cheeky when you spend that amount of money on a device and its not what you should be getting?
Take it back, stick to your guns.

I'm looking forward to it, my Nexus 7 is a smidgen too small, but I don't want a full 10 inch tablet and I won't be too upset to say goodbye to Android, I really haven't had a good experience with it.

I'm still confused how reviews and some people are saying they're an improvement for the speakers.

Me too. They are fine but not worthy of note. To me, they sound different to the RT and not necessarily better. Reminds me a bit of the old virtual Dolby sets.

To be honest though, if I care about sound I just pop on a pair of decent headphones like any other phone/tablet.
