***The Official MSI 5850 Twin FrozeR Thread***

GPU Score for the 6850 overclocked in Vantage is 15343 clearly the 6850 when overclocked is on a par with an MSI 5850 at stock settings but once you overclock the 5850 it surpasses it by some margin.

Truth that.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/290?vs=295

Stock 6870 vs stock 5850 negligible differences. Once overclocked they should be pretty much on par.

And the 5850s have lots of headroom from my experience.

After all even this crappy Twin Frozr II can do 20-25% overclock.

Right having a strange issue after I went from XP x86 to Win 7 x64.

My GPU usage seems to have dropped from averaging around 60%+ to 0-15%. I've tried different drivers but none seem to help at all.

Back on XP I could play Mass Effect 2 with no issues, solid at 60FPS. Now it's 30-50FPS and stutters badly :(

Any ideas?

edit:I am gonna try reflashing the card

well that didn't change anything.

I can't even drag a window without it stuttering/freezing for a millisec.

Funny thing is, it doesn't stutter with no ATI drivers installed

That clearly is a driver issue then.

Have you tried the latest official drivers? Catalyst 10.12 with the CCC2 Preview?

Make sure to uninstall the current drivers first (and to install the right drivers for your OS).

Yep. Tried 10.4, 10.10 and the latest ones with new CCC.

Got my MSI 5850 this morning and I am very pleased with it. I haven't tried to overclock it yet mainly because all the games I play BFBC2,Dirt 2 and WoW are all maxed out so no real need yet but I will when the time comes. I have been keeping an eye on this thread since I decided to buy the 5850 and it seems some people have been really unlucky with overclocks but for the price I really cannot complain apart from the delivery but we wont go into that

Good luck, hope you get a good 1, mine seems weird, i can run bench tests with fairly high overclock 930/1200 (highest ive tried) but cant seem to get anywhere near that in games

mine is fine and ive had it a few months now but i haven't over-clocked it because it plays everything i throw at it.

Got mine today, so far so good.

The fan set to 50% is really quiet compared to my old 4870 so may just leave it at that.

The only problem i had was my Thermaltake Shark case which is only just big enough to
fit a 4870 or 5850. The power out the back of the card doesn't help.

Guys, can you confirm for me if your MSI 5850 Twin FrozR comes with a Crossfire bridge? I'm only asking because I read someone said he got one with his MSI 5850 Twin FrozR, but I certainlly didn't...

Mine didn't. It doesn't say so on the box/in the manual/on their website.

Conclusion: it doesn't come with a CrossfireX Bridge.
