The Official My Console Died What Should I Do Thread?

I dont know anyone with a 360.
I phoned ms who said that I should download the update for the xbox from xbox.com burn it to disk and load it on the xbox. Problem being in that i cant find the update the support guy is reffering too.
Last few times I phoned them I've been in caller que hell and could not be botherd to wait
A few days ago I turned on my xbox360 and, lo' and behold I had 3 RROD. I turned it off and went to get my receipt.
When I turned it back on, however it worked perfectly, and it still is now.
My friend told me that 1 red ring can mean that there are dodgy cables but can 3? Is it worth worrying about or should I take it back ASAP.
It got me quite worried because I bought it about a month ago and it's one of the boxes with the latest chipset.

Over the past few days my 360 Elite has been locking up after a few minutes played, with white snowy stuff on the screen!!
I've not long ago moved and wonder if this has contributed to it as it was fine at the old house.
Please help!!

I ve got the same prob, it starts up sometimes too, but then locks, its obviously a hardware fault, as it says on the microsoft site, but the high street shop i bought it from, has kindly agreed to let me swap it , no prob
Pretty Similar situation myself, froze during a game a while ago ago. Its been getting progressively worse, I think if you've seen once it then its only downhill from then on I'm afraid.
It froze about 5 times today, each time needing a power-off reset in 2 different games and once on the dashboard. Now I have almost constant 3 red lights.
Filled in the support request, waiting for a label now.
Question: Those of you who have previously sent a box away, did you get a repair OR a service exchange. A friend said he received back an exchange unit older than his!
I hope this is not normal as I have hardly used mine and its in great condition (apart from rrod). I would hate to get a battered console with a gazillion hours+ clocked up for an exchange

Chances are you will get a refurb unit. Microsoft are replacing motherboard and swapping the DVD drives out too. You will get your mint condition case back and have the same serial number, it's just the parts inside that will of changed.

Hmmm.... that phone call went waaaay too smoothly for my liking 
In everyone else's experience, how long does the "shipping ticket" email actually take to come through? Most other companies I've dealt with have just put 24 hours as a precaution but it's pretty much come through instantly? Or does it actually take 24-48 hours?
Also, the repair number she gave to lookup online, should that work instantly or is that just for when they actually receive the console back at Microsoft? I've just tried to check it online (about 10minutes after coming off the phone) and it isn't recognising it yet?

Console has arrived back today so a one and a half week turn around, not bad.
Same casing, serial number, power consumption labels.
It seems I have a reconditioned original 203W board, it has the new style extra GPU heatpipe sink, little dissapointed that I didn't get a falcon but oh well. I'm hoping this isn't likely to rrod and that they have modified the clamps, can't tell without opening though.
The DVD-ROM has also been replaced its the newest type (LG I think) so a bit quieter than what used to be in there. I also suspect the 2 fans may have been replaced, I think they sound different a little noisier I don't remember them sounding like they do now, maybe they have higher airflow. Then again maybe I just forgot how noisy it is.
Anyone know what happens to the warranty? Does it still cover me if It goes faulty again?

You are still covered but from the date of your first console, you don't get a fresh 3 years from this console.

Got One red light + E74 code, gonna do it myself and do the GPU X clamp Mod, looks easy enough. cant be arsed to send it back now, because i already stripped it down not knowing about the extended warranty lol.....

Can someone help me? Woke up this morning and my PS3 won't stay on.
I press the power button, the red light turns to green, there is the usual beep, the fan spins up but then after about 2 seconds the light turns to orange and then there are two quick beeps as the orange light turns to red and just keeps flashing.
Anyone know what is wrong!?
